Livermore was one of the people associated with the herd immunity policy of the Great Barrington Declaration. I don't trust anybody's opinion on Covid if they associated themselves with that.

What does herd immunity mean to you?

The term's intended use was described in the Barrington declaration itself.

Did you support the Barrington Declaration? Would you like to explain why?

Don't start sealioning.

The Great Barrington Declaration was, and is, a steaming pile of shit.

No idea what that means, but if you don't want to answer the question that's fine.

You are creating a totally false dichotomy. If zero covid isn't an option that doesn't make the Barrington declaration any less wrong. I don't see how you came to that conclusion. Perhaps you can explain? The declaration was done at a time where we knew very little about Covid - which is why it was so irresponsible. What we have found out since (the tendency of the virus to mutate into more malevolent and transmissible forms, the significant numbers of individuals with long covid, the fact that even perfectly healthy people can die of it in significant numbers) shows that TGBD was a testament of scientific illiteracy. We still don't know at what point population level immunity would be achieved. We still don't have it in the UK - despite the high level of antibodies. THe idea that deliberate infection would have produced it is utter nonsense. TGBD was predicated on the idea that you could pinpoint everybody who could get sick and somehow isolate them (in some unspecified way). It is pure tosh from start to end. We would have certainly ended up with a collapse in health provision if we had gone down that route rather than locked down.

That's a pretty nutty viewpoint even for here, well done.

How can you be funny when the country is run by tories and incels threaten the very fabric of society? Hmm?

Freedom was delayed and diluted in the meantime.

Until such time as these kind of articles are censured, and their authors thrown in prison, freedom remains relatively untouched. Freedom is not about being able to go down the pub during a public health emergency - freedom, primarily, is about freedom from fear - freedom from fear of hunger, of violence, of disease, of arbitrary detention, of punishment for speaking your mind. Furthermore, it is something provided by the society we live in, not something constricted by the society we live in. See any war zone to discover what happens when that society breaks down.

So what does this mean for our approach to the virus? First, it means vaccine passports are futile, not to mention illiberal. It won’t be long before the vaccinated comprise the majority of people infected

Scary that even professors of medical microbiology invoke this this in a nonsensical attack on vaccines, or in a nonsensical attack on vaccine passports

A fairly reasonable article from the Revolutionary Communist Party mouthpiece. Makes a change from saving statues and grumbling about young people.
