The same reason people join gangs: money power family etc

If you have nothing and someone offers you a way to get something a lot of people will take that opportunity

I too think you always reach people that feel excluded from society for whatever reasons as an extremist

How would you give ISIS a healthy way at establishing a Muslim Caliphate in your area ?

Because, in general, people are gullible and easily manipulated. There is no such thing as a free lunch but, if you say there is, hundreds of people will line up not realizing that somehow, somewhere, somebody is going to pay the price.

Consider the fact that so many people have been brought up to believe they are "victims" somehow, it doesn't take much to sway them. Just promise them that they will always come out on top and you will always have fresh recruits. By the time the understand that they were lied to, it's too late.

It is my understanding that it is not always by choice. They take over entire villages, & give the men hellish choices. Join, or watch the females in your family be raped while you watch & then execute all. It's a disgustingly good recruitment method.

Same reason people vote against their own self interest.

Maybe gives them a sense of purpose and access to power and money. Lot of people over there are probably living in poverty and maybe it looks like a better life. Also they are likely to have a much different view of the west than someone who lives there especially after being bombed for the last two decades.

People are tired of other countries meddling in their affairs and think it gives them a chance to take control back

People that feel as if they have nothing to live for or that have lost it all.

Most comments here managed to not use the most important word here : Islam.

People who don't know any better will be offered recruitment by immigrant imams in Europe or regular imams in Middle Eastern Countries. Their goal is to establish a Muslim Caliphate, it is their new Crusade. Nothing is more galvanizing to a religious person than fighting for God. Look at propaganda videos of ISIS and you'll see that the terrorists are seen as Martyrs and Holy Soldiers.

Islam is a civilisational concept itself. Islam means both Peace and Submission, you only live in peace when you are fully submitted to Islam, that's why their main goal is mass islamisation and terrorist attacks in 'Hostile' countries.

Simple. Kidnapping and brainwashing. If not, burning down a village, taking the women, and forcing the men into your gang always worked.

The poor, people with no hope getting a new purpose in life

People are gullible. Why do you think pyramid schemes or internet scams or even cults are so popular and still such a wide spread problem? People are easy to manipulate and control if you know how to do it

Because deranged psychos love to cause harm especially in groups

Whell when you bomb weddings and shit ppl tend to hate ur hate your contry and then this group says “we wanna fight the country that bombed ur sisters wedding “ you would prolly wanna go with them to

[Serious] Who do you think groups like the Taliban or ISIS are able to recruit so easily?
