Arsenal's wages are the 10th highest of any European club, yet Arsenal is not playing in any European competition this season.

This is for 19/20, a season in which we had European football and had finished a point off champions league football in the previous season
*a season we still had ozil
and even then we still had too many players, this club has a big problem with buying before selling
How much do you think the wages have gone down in 2 years?
This season they’ll be massively down because ozil Luiz Sokratis mustafi will not be there
Luiz, Guendouzi, Torreira, Martinez too.
I can’t imagine getting Martinez off the books made a modicum of difference
Players like Partey and White probably make more than anyone of those did though?
From that season, David Luiz, Ozil, Sokratis, Mustafi, Torreira, Mkhitaryan (probably had a wage split) and Kolasinac (soon). The wages have gone down a sizeable chunk
Get your head out of the sand
Given who's come in, who's gone out and who's changed contracts...probably £23m a year, roughly?
[deleted]
Ok, so from £225m/year to roughly £200m/year. That would move Arsenal from 10th to... 10th.
Yeah, all right, I was just answering your question.
Have the other clubs stayed exactly the same then, or what?
Also have to see how much they have gone up or down for other teams.
Massively? Have you not seen how many players have left the club
Have you not seen how many have joined?
Partey is the only high earner that we've signed as well as Aubameyangs new contract in years.
This is old...
is this data including willian, kolasinac, and torreira?
It’s 19/20 so it’s also including Ozil, Sokratis, Mustafi, Sokratis and likely a chunk of Mkhitaryan
225 isn't bad but it is much less now with those notable players and more off the books.
Not to mention David Luiz
Seeing as it says its for 19/20 season it will.
Huh, guess we all need to have a talk about what "2019/2020" means...
This might even include Ozil...
It does
Yeah, just realizing now that this is from two years ago. Not last year.
OP's point probably still stands, but we've cut a lot of fat from the wage bill the past two years
It's 2019/2020 until it's 2022/2023 ?
At least we aren't as much of an outlier as Palace
Who was on high wages at palace
Unless zaha is making Messi levels of Money
Benteke maybe. Sakho?

Xhaka is the only real problem in that. The rest will be gone by the end of the season. We can use all those freed up wages including Bellerins and finally get a good RB and maybe a world class striker.

Sheffield United's wage bill is greater than half the clubs playing in all European competitions. Why aren't they in it?!
we suck, we get it
If we rank clubs from the Big 5 leagues by wage bill, the Premier League has no fewer than 9 of the top 20, though the highest are #FCBarcelona £389m, followed by #PSG £363m, #MCFC £351m, #RealMadrid £332m and #LFC £326m. #FCBayern are the highest German club with £298m.

How on earth are Barcas higher than PSG's....
The data is from 19/20 so Barca still had Messi's mega contract and before PSG added Messi, Donnarumma, Wijnaldum, Ramos, etc.
So this includes Ozil?
probably
Because bartomeu thought he had infinite money so offered Griezmann and coutinho a million a week between them
PSG's wages seemed higher because Mboopi, Neymar, Di Maria etc's wages.
But the rest of the team weren't that high on wages.
Anyone else find this funny
Used to be funny but now it's just sad tbh.
I would be less surprised if you told me Arsenal wear red shirts with white sleeves.
I'm surprised by place and everton
This will change drastically this season. This is with ozil luiz mustafi all on the wage books
Well 50% of the top 40 is from England. So you'd probably have to scale it accordingly

Thank you captain obvious.
Looking at the clubs below us, it isn’t that bad, actually we are just a big PL club who has dropped off in recent years and this chart reflects that.
We possibly could have done more to scale down in recent years - hopefully we can trim the wage bill a bit before the window closes.
Yes we are shite at all aspects of management. This is apparent
Do we wanna be a big club or not? Big clubs pay high wages.
Big clubs pay high wages when they find a player that deserves high wages.
I think everyone is aware that we have a team full of average players on bloated contracts that are underperforming based on the amount of money we pay them.
Which then results in unsellable players who we have to terminate contract or pay part of the wage to fuck off.
nah bro totally needed to get mari who's reportedly on around 80k p/w because of his sweet, sweet left foot bro totally can't have a right footer with a lot of potential who we brought for 30m there bro nosireee
I very much doubt he's on that much and if you're using spotrac their information seems largely rubbish.
Anyone who thinks they know what kind of wages most of our team is making are talking absolute shit.
every website that reports his wage qoutes something in that region, not saying that makes it right but every source consistently says somewhere around 80k
the amount of you people who defended this shit lmao
