Been told to post here too. Anyone interested in doing a Captive Prince group read?

It's been a few years since I read it, I'm probably due for another re-read :)

I just reread this so I probably won’t again so soon, but can I be added to the chat just to lurk and see everyone else’s opinions?

Signing up! Read the first book a week ago, a discussion chat would be great.

Should we uh, start our own? There's so much interest between the two subs, and we could have a slower timeline and deeper discussion here? Any thoughts? paging u/bravebangle

If you think that's more appropriate for this sub then go for it. :)

u/PenelopeSummer suggested having a separate in depth, spoiler-all discussion for re-readers. Maybe that kind of thing would be a good follow on and suit your style more?

Oh I suggested two separate ones for spoilers and without spoilers in case they were chats! since they tend to get crowded. I think discussions posts will be fine, I don’t particularly see a need for multiple ones.

As per your plan if we’re doing one book a week, book one will be two chapters a day, book two will be 3 chapters a day, and book 3 will be 3 chapters a day. If there are people who wanna go slower that’s totally cool! I know r/DarkRise was planning to have their own discussion too.

Now that I think about it I know some people find the book disturbing/degrading so maybe a separate discussion of how problematic it is would be useful for people who aren’t fans. This sub would give people who aren’t fans a safe community to view the book through a progressive and critical lens regarding (what I thought was) problematic queer representation and slavery dynamics- I think a lot of folks on r/MM_romancebooks love the book and it might make folks who dislike the books have apprehensions about being fully critical amidst all the gushing.

Edit: also it’s so nice to be at this sub again! I’ve been so MIA on Reddit in general and somehow this Captive Prince BR has coaxed me out of my cave 😂
