Why would you not be able to swap characters if you are in jail?

I recall something like that when I first started watching, I was either mistaken or the rules changed. I think that person just didn't login much during the week or two they were in before being released

I assumed so it made people value their characters more

Nope people are absolutely allowed to switch. There is actually even an option to go to the character selection screen at the payphone in jail! Some players choose not to switch though and will continue to RP on that character for the length of their sentence, even if it's a HUT charge. Or they will just not play that much if they don't want to play a different character instead.

So when people switch characters does the character that is serving time still serve time while the player is playing his other character or is time only served when playing the character that is in jail?

Wish there was a simpler way to ask that question lol

time is served no matter what, thats why people sometimes f8 quit after they have been sent.

yeah, the time still runs when they are out of game or on another character. It's an in character punishment, not and OOC one. Some RP servers do it the other way though.

Jail time reduces regardless of if a character is being played or not. It's pretty common for streamers to F8 quit immediately after being sent to jail and end stream if they get a long sentence for that reason; tomorrow when they start back up their character will have served their time and be free.

Nope, just mistaken.

Both these questions are kinda simple tbh.

Obviously he can rejoin he wasn’t shot down or anything.

Plenty of people change characters while the other is in jail.

The issue I saw was the fresh bike,

I notice others in chat said he should go get his original bike

Often times when a crim crashes they rejoin and are able to repair the car if it hit hard when they popped, so I don't see the issue there.

He should not have gotten a fresh bike unless something prevented him from getting the same one (sometimes the shared vehicles disappear during head pops). Having said that, I don't think it would have mattered much. I'm not a fan of the character but it can't be understated how good he is at chases and I doubt any engine degradation would have stopped him from catching the crim.

So basically what you want is we punish/inconvenience characters who head-pop.

Question, why ask if you think you already know the answer? Since clearly you don't like most of the answers you got.

Many players change characters when one of their characters is in jail. There is nothing against this.

What do you think happens when a crims head pops during a chase? They wake back up and rejoin it if possible. Same with cops.

Hey I got to say, no dumb questions. Nice you are asking and not just jumping to conclusions and getting frogy about it.

Plenty of good answers already but no, you are just fine to change characters while in jail or pretty much anytime. And also headpops are treated differently than being shot down, just fine to rejoin the chase.

?????

New watchers all the time, It's good they are asking questions. Though there is was a sticky for that.

ogzogz•

fine to ask questions, but OP then follows up by challenging the responses

cecilrtOP•

So I'm not suppose to follow up with more detail...

Or is everything so factually obvious and there is never any debates on this subreddit

Head pops are different than being gunned down, it wasn't the players fault, so I see no harm in rejoining ( cops have let crims rejoin often)

Ramee and Randy will often hop on their cop characters to pass crazy time in prison

With the jail thing there have been plenty of arguments on this reddit regarding how more people who hate jail should switch characters when they have long jailtime. Definitely nothing wrong with switching IMO and it's 1,000% not against the rules to do so.

If anyone is complaining about the bike thing then that's just being petty IMO. If he wasn't down or crashed the bike beyond repair then it's a no issue as well.

Its a head pop. It's out of his control, there's no reason he couldn't join back in. Same thing on the crim side. It happens all the time.
