I bought a book about El Yunque last year and still haven't started it, but these guys have a lot of influence within national TV stations and sponsor a bunch of stars and politicians to further their anti-abortion/anti-LGBTQ agenda.

These fucks are BAD news and their game is a LOT smoother and way less obvious than far-right groups from the US. Everything these guys do is so very covert, and taking into account the amount of money they have available, they're super scary and powerful.

He became a notary and is currently being investigated for money laundering for the Church also recently his ex wife came out against him for trying to pull his strings to get full custody of his children even tho the court had previously ruled he couldn’t because of child abuse

Fiesta Nazis

Hitler privately described Christianity as "proto Bolshevism" and characterized by "meekness and flabbiness" and lamented that Germany hadn't been conquered by Islam as "it would have been much more agreeable to us."

The Catholic Church needs women priests, now. Of all the world religions it does have the ability to adapt the most as it does not take the Bible literally so we need to find original texts and practices to use as examples of female clergy, in both ancient Judaism and and early Christianity. Nothing else is going to bring the needed changes and the harms these kinds of groups do will only expand and continue. World power is universally male, religious and otherwise so opening this up, women priests--not deacons, not running parishes or admin but full clergy is the level of change we need. Showing stuff here and laughing is ok but that alone is not going to make change happen. And the change will happen, it just does not have to be violent or horrible.

Alconasier•

I’m sorry to inform you of this, but the Church is not capable, that is it has no authority, to ordain women priests. Even if the Pope and all cardinals and all bishops suddenly really wanted to ordain women, it wouldn’t be possible. The clergy being exclusively male is established by official dogma, and the Church can’t change that, even in theory.

Most people who want to bravely reform the Church, as if they were the first to try, usually have no clue as to how canon law and church jurisdiction works.

Also the Church takes a lot of the Bible literally. Good luck on your revolution.

You might want to learn a bit more Church history: https://www.ncronline.org/news/opinion/church-needs-women-cardinals

Alconasier•

I’m confused... You talked about the ordination of women and so did I, why do you send me something about cardinals?

1
1GoodWoman•

Because if the cardinals are not male clergy there may well be women priests.

SpectreCMOP•

Well, I usually think about "Nationalizing" the catholic church here in Mexico because they are accountable to the Vatican, not here. I consider the Vatican a corrupt he'll hole, a new catholic church with more female presence and freedom to the priests its the solution since I understand that religion can not be simply destroyed. -By Nationalizing I mean that it is a regional church that can be easily taken accountable by their corruption and hypothetical crimes, I don't like a bit that the Vatican has such soft power over México just because is the most common religion here.

Melanoc3tus•

Better idea: De-incentivise predatory organisations like religions, don't give them more culti- I mean followers.

2
1GoodWoman•

At this point for humanity worldwide the religions are major forces in social and community structures. How would you, to use your word, de-incentivize them? What would you replace them with for major life events generally beginning with birth, then either adulthood or marriage and on to death--the ceremonies for those who love them particularly? Both the USSR and China have tried to abolish all religion and were not able to accomplish much although the names of various celebrations tied to calendar dates were changed.

1
Melanoc3tus•

What would I replace them with? Ideally nothing, but judging from the present, spiritualism is the current fave religion replacement, and I suppose it's better, considering it's less organised. De-incentivising anything that large is of course an extremely difficult task, and it would require significant time and effort to find a truly effective solution. That, however, will apply in any similar situation, be it oil companies or dictatorships, sexism or drugs. There's never an easy solution, and those solutions that do exist come with consequences.

1GoodWoman•

You are very correct in that it will take time and there will be unexpected outcomes. I'm just wondering what some alternatives might actually look like to build community, teach basic morals, celebrate life events and offer comfort in the life struggles we all face.

The idea of "nothing" to me allows an opening for the rise of things far worse than what we already have so maybe we can start modifying the various belief systems? Might we start by coming together around what we, humans in the 21st century, might agree on as universal or global acceptable basic standards for human behavior on earth in complicated and complex societies? Maybe a new set of "Wisdom Measures"? I've not been a fan of the word commandment for quite some time but can't really come up with a single word alternative. Name aside do you have maybe 2 or 3 measures you think would be worth striving for in society and individual lives?
