The End of my Genshin Journey
Today marks the end of my 11 month long journey with Genshin, and I thought it'd be interesting to give a summary of my spendings, both time and money, and my emotions towards it in general.
Overall, I LOVE the game. Honestly, any game that hooks me for over 30 hrs, I deemed as a good title; although the nature of Genshin is a bit different from usual stand alone single player game, still, I've sunk more than 330+ hrs into this game (11 months with at least 1 hr on average daily), and I'm sure this is an underestimate. It became a routine to my life in the past year, to logon every morning and evening, do my dailies, deplete the energy.
And we've all been there at some point I guess, the feeling of spinning into a boring cycle of routines. I felt that more or less along the way, but I kept going, in fear that I'd regret giving up my AR57 account and fall out of the patches. Around last couple months, I was really searching for a signal/reason to put it all away for good. Then Inazuma dropped and it was great, but still, I feel the void of logging on everyday and do pretty much the same thing, waiting for the next patch.
I guess Baal banner sort of put the end to it? I pulled for her (Asia server) and no show. This may feel like just me being salty not getting her lol, maybe part of it is, but I guess this is sort of the breaking point I needed? In retrospect, if I got her, I'd most definitely hang on to the game for a good month with the refreshed sensation and thrill, but then quickly fall back to the boring routine. Hence, it's a painful, but good breaking point for me.
Overall, I bought 11 Welkins and 2 Pearl passes, so that's approx. ~90 USD in total, which honestly ain't bad. Costs like one and a half triple A title game, and I definitely got a great value for my money.
Anyway, I hope everyone keeps having fun with Genshin, it is a great game that got me through the past year. It's gonna be a little weird to live without it.
