"introduce data disruption warrants to enable the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) to disrupt data by modifying, adding, copying or deleting data in order to frustrate the commission of serious offences online; and make minor technical corrections"

I love the vague "minor technical corrections" bit at the end. No big deal, just modifying your data payload a little, teehee

EDIT: See u/HTTP_429's comment below about the "minor technical corrections".

That just means that the bill makes "minor technical corrections" to the Surveillance Devices Act 2004 and Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act 1979. That should be clear from the semicolon when reading the entire summery.

The "minor technical corrections" seems to be along the lines of:

7 Paragraph 63AB(2)(g)

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:

(g) activities that pose a risk, or are likely to pose a risk, to the operational security (within the meaning of the Intelligence Services Act 2001 ) of ASIS (within the meaning of that Act);

(ga) activities that pose a risk, or are likely to pose a risk, to the operational security (within the ordinary meaning of that expression) of the Organisation or of AGO or ASD (within the meanings of the Intelligence Services Act 2001 );

8 Paragraph 63AC(2)(g)

Repeal the paragraph, substitute:

(g) activities that pose a risk, or are likely to pose a risk, to the operational security (within the meaning of the Intelligence Services Act 2001 ) of ASIS (within the meaning of that Act);

(ga) activities that pose a risk, or are likely to pose a risk, to the operational security (within the ordinary meaning of that expression) of the Organisation or of AGO or ASD (within the meanings of the Intelligence Services Act 2001 );

If you want to quote something truly terrifying, look at schedule 1, section 64B "Person with knowledge of a computer or a computer system to assist disruption of data etc." which allows almost anyone, including the suspect to be conscripted to hack any computer system or provide necessary information at the threat of 10 years imprisonment.

Is there anything these people won't take?

Seriously what is it going to take for them say enough?

Someone on here said that Australians are descendents of both inmates and their jailers and it shows.

Death, probably. But it would be too late to matter.

This is a sad day...I'm at a total loss for words. I knew this is what they were pushing for but, I never thought I'd see it...

Expect more dystopian laws to come to fruition whilst most are under the guise of pandemic based fear.
