Why do we need to associate dry fasting with spirituality?

Questions

Personally, it turns me off as "woo woo", but not enough for me not to see the benefits of it.

Genuinely curious if there's a logical connection or sorry to say, it just tends to bring in people who want to be counter culture. edit: or tie something to their ego for being "unique" or to have found answers that the typical person hasn't

Personally I just have more lucid dreams, deeper meditation, improved willpower, etc. That’s all a part of my spirituality.

That’s fair, as do I also have more Lucid Dreams While the In ketosis generally

I dry fasted yesterday and had a lucid dream last night, unintentionally.

Anything that requires self discipline will ultimately aid in any spiritual walk. Also, most the spiritual leaders, if not all, fasted and preached fasting. It cleanses the body and allows it to be more sensitive to things most are numb too. You don’t have to have a spiritual mindset, but whether you are trying to achieve spiritual progress or not, you inevitably will, in my opinion.

Interesting.

Dry fasting brings you into connection with your body which is knowing yourself. So it is inherently spiritual because the body and soul are not separate. There is nothing bad about being spiritual - it sounds like you’ve experienced some examples that left you with a bad impression

No bad experiences, I feel great when I dry fast.

Does not necessarily answer your question but:

In double-blinded experiments with men, intranasal oxytocin increased feelings of spirituality that persisted for a week, and these results were moderated by certain oxytocin-related genotypes.

Water restriction might increase oxytocin: Intermittent drinking, oxytocin and human health

That’s pretty interesting, thank you for sharing

It has been a religious practice for thousands of years. The association exists, one can engage with it or not.
