Sorry to be this guy, but do yourself a favor and save up a bit more to get a 1zpresso JX Pro. You’ll be very happy you did. 1zpresso JX is a bit cheaper if you never have plans to get into espresso. Maybe check the coffeeswap sub to see if you can find one used.

A third vote for Baratza. I have the Encore and upgraded the burrs to the Virtuoso burrs. I'm not 100% convinced the coffee tastes *better*, but it does grind faster.

Another vote for Baratza. I have the Virtuoso and it’s great. Also: user serviceable and the replacement parts are relatively cheap!

Under 120 you will already get some electrical grinders. Something like the wilfa svart or baratza encore. They are not capable to grind finde enough for espresso. But for filter coffee they will be perfectly fine. 
If you want to save some money you could get yourself a manual grinder. I started my coffee journey with the Hario mini slim plus. After dialing in it also does the job quite well.

There's nothing "wrong" with the metal filter, I used them for years. But I much prefer the taste out of a paper filter

I just got my first pour over setup today, I got a Chemex Classic 8 cup, a stainless steel re-usable filter and a basic stove top gooseneck with a thermometer, I just made my first cup with it and I'm already in love with the process, but I need a good coffee grinder, electric or manual, under $120, anyone have any solid recommendations? Also wondering if the filter will be fine or if I need to invest in paper filters, I don't know how big of a difference there is.
