Solution to long queue waiting times: If you don't get a match within a few seconds, join a different queue.
I have had to do this several times (switching between Standard and Historic), but it seems to work.

I haven't been able to join a game since last Monday - probably tried 150 times. Some people are just locked out. Hopefully this patch addresses it.

The game is under maintenance right now, so I'm surprised you're getting anything to work at all.
