Nice! Fuck those snitching ass incels.
You know when even GoDaddy won't put up with your shit that you've fucked up.
GoDaddy is pretty strict, actually.
I agree with their ruling here, but they are aggressive in what they don’t allow. They also made news last year for banning the largest firearm forum (AR15 dot com) out of nowhere.
GoDaddy is pretty strict. We got a letter to update our permanent address on our account 5 days after we had updated it on our legal business license.
Like I know it’s a legal requirement to have it updated but I’ve never had another web services company reach out that quickly. Usually it’s at-least a month or two.
They funny thing is they still sell their user data to third party companies and robo-marketers.
Which is at least based on actual users choosing to use the site. The reason why this website is a TOS violation is it's the collection of non-public information from non-users. Essentially doxxing. A big TOS no-no for all hosting providers, as it leaves them open to legal repercussions.
It's actually because the site violates their term against hosting a website that allows people to submit information about other people
Texas law forcing go daddy to host their website in three...two....one ...
their name is go daddy... playing cute with authority is not a big surprise...
It's headquartered in Arizona. Couldn't they just tell Texas to pound sand?
Actually, maybe someone can explain this to me. Why did so many American websites have to disable themselves in Europe after GDPR went into effect? If you and your servers aren't in Europe, wouldn't it be unenforceable against you? I can't see the US ever extraditing a US citizen to a country they've never been to, at the very least.
Even if they're headquartered elsewhere local assets (e.g. servers) access to infrastructure and legal operation can still be hampered. The alternative is relocating to the dark web or something and losing access to the market.
Good.
Good
Good.
Good.
Great
I can see big tech cancelling this law. You’ll have to mail in letters to report people
Everyone is making a big deal out of the reporting angle but it doesn't mean much. The police will just target abortion clinics. Lol. Also Pro-Life activists will do much of the leg work and will probably just report the violations in person.
Don't be dumb. It isn't hard to figure out.
What the actual fuck are you saying
He’s saying that pro-life groups will find a way around this.
What the actual fuck are you saying
If you actually read the news you'll find out that pro-life groups are already suing Texas branches of Planned Parenthood. A hearing has been scheduled.
Don't be dumb.
Elaborate.
I'm still not sure how reporting someone's medical history isn't a HIPAA violation.
It only applies to the health care workers.
That is not true. Webhosting falls in scope if there is any medical data stored.
That's not entirely accurate. There are rules about end-to-end-encryption and how the data is retrieved and viewed, but if you jump through enough hoops, you absolutely can send data across the internet in a way that is HIPAA compliant.
I'm 99.99% certain that this particular website is not Hipaa complaint though.
Yeah there is no way that crappy shit would ever be HIPAA compliant. They couldn’t even put in a proper captcha.
you absolutely can send data across the internet in a way that is HIPAA compliant.
I never said that, what I said was it would be in scope for HIPAA if it contained medical data.
Because that's not how HIPAA works?
It's HIPAA!
Thanks! I fixed it
Damn. There goes my $10k a pop.
Thanks Obama!
Even to joke about that shit is lame
Similar to joking about snitching on jews in germany. I know that the comparison is too strong, but I'm drawing blanks on other times the gov incentived snitching and turning in your neighbors
United States and the McCarthy trials.
Mccarthy is partially responsible for how goddamn insane today's conservatives are. They are still sitting and speaking his words for him like loyal dogs
Danke! I hate how my mind expelled all other info. Thanks for another example
KGB files proved McCarthy was mostly right in his accusations.
California government asked people to snitch on their neighbors if they had more than 6 people over to their private property. No one batted an eye. I’m not condoning snitching on people. Just pointing out a very recent example.
Comparison doesn't really hold up. This is snitching on potential murders.
Depends on your perspective. Judaism says that a fetus is not a human life.
Which this would mean the bill is infringing upon a Jew's religious right to seek an abortion for medical reasons under the definition in their religion.
Weird how we care about religious freedom, but only if its our religion... Personally I believe human rights begin at birth, not prior. As is outlined by citizenship, a birth right.
Also before you start going off on medical reasons. Birth is a medical procedure, any reason a patient makes to cancel the birth is a medical decision. Whether you like it, agree with it, or care.
"Murders". Yeah, the "murder" where I take a pill or have a procedure done on my body, and that somehow murders another person? How were they a whole-ass other human being if me doing something with my body murdered them? Surely that makes them functionally still part of my body and under MY jurisdiction?
No, this is just bounty hunting women & anyone who would seek to aid them for thinking they have full rights in the United States of America.
Fuck Texas.

Doxxing and promoting violence is banned on reddit. Seems equivalent.
According to the rules: yes But in all reality you can dox/promote violence against anyone the mods/Reddit admins deem bad enough, or a "public enemy"
Pics or it didn't happen.
[deleted]
how? it very clearly violates godaddy TOS
Which is the exact reason GoDaddy gave for this announcement. They just couldn't call it out for a TOS violation until it actively started collecting private non-user data, which didn't start until two days ago.
[deleted]
Correct, its not really a TOS violation, until the data submitted is public.
And its not a libertarian value to say "Censor things i don't like" or "censorship is fine when its a privately company doing it"
Internet is a Utility.
I remember back when people , Libertarians, Wanted the FCC to regulate the Internet like a Utility.
They wanted to regulate ISPs like a utility, which still is a good idea.
censorship is fine when its a privately company doing it
Actually it is. Freedom of speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction from the state, not from private enterprises.

It was hosted at godaddy?!
This has nothing to do with the Texas government its just some private group.
[deleted]
Lol, unenforceable.
The us government has so much cash at it's disposal, and failing that access to the money printer, and you don't think they can find a new host or make their own if they have to?
This is hardly the final nail in this law's coffin.
Lol, whoops, Texas loop holes in religious rights is gonna allow Satanist to deliver safe abortions under law. I can't believe how stupid this all is, rofl.
What happened to hppa?
Godaddy can go fuck themselves. Not for this action. But for their false advertising I the M365 scandal.
They promised O365, got clients locked into 1-3 year long agreements. And then pulled a switcharoo 3 months into launch. Wherein admin cannot access the M365 admin panel.
You get a watered down version of 365 with zero tech support. Yes, zero. By that I mean you can call tech support. But the support knows fucking nothing about M365. It's pathetic.
Theres a class action lawsuit against then for this BTW.

How consistent are they in use of this policy ?
.
I'm curious just how they're arguing "privacy" violations for public information?
So, when are they going to kick pretty much every corporation that harvests data?
They don't have to. It's clearly in excuse for not hosting a garbage, pro-big government website they want nothing to do with. And it's their right.
A private organization soliciting informants for a lawsuit is not big government.
But is it "pro-big government"? Which is the wording I used.
It has nothing to do with big government. Its a private organization using the legal system. Anyone can file a lawsuit. You sound like a whiner.
There are any number of bullet proof hosting sites. Considering who all GoDaddy hosts, this was weak virtue signalling at best.
They probably just got tired of their servers running slow due to all the activists clogging the pipe. They have other clients afterall.
If a host their size cannot manage what is a classic DDOS attack at a minor level, they should turn out the lights and shut the doors. I have seen others with much more serious attacks survive easily.
Incoming: GOP bill that say private companies will be fined if they don't host government websites.

Free speech at it's finest ,😉

Ahahah! Good luck, fucker!
You know what's really next? They're going to try to make some kind of law to punish people who are "hostile" to conservatives online. And "hostile" means "anybody who dunks on, roasts, clowns on, mocks, or points out the obvious terarded nature of a conservative person's post.
Because criticizing a conservative or pointing out why they're wrong is violating the conservative's free speech.
And they have the nerve to call everyone else snowflakes. On that note, the irony of a group that loves to call others sheeple while bleating "Where we go one, we go all" is just too much for me.

It never fails.

It's not a government website. It's run by a bunch of snitches.
Texas has some serious aspirations for Texas-sized governmental mechanisms.
