I worked as a driver with fedex. There is a chance that there is no damage at all to your package and you will receive it in the coming days. Some drivers would scan a package as damaged if they are behind schedule and want to get home early. We would often bring back “damaged” packages to the warehouse to be delivered another day if we didn’t want to be on the road too late.

This part is true. When I went to the shipping site, drivers have a certain time to be out. And if they are " Out of hours " maybe be due to not enough drivers.....they will send it the following day. If you do feel comfortable with that just down load the app and tell hit the pick up in person option.

I wonder if you can ask for proof of "damage" since you own it I don't think that's unreasonable.

I doubt it, but I'll try calling tomorrow and find out. If i don't update, i didn't succeed.

Update without success. FedEx says they can provide proof of damage, but only on request by the shipper. As the receiver i can do nothing. And Walmart isn't going to care enough to bother. Thanks for the suggestion. It was worth the try

Just means delivery man either found package to be actually damaged and brought it back to facility to tape/replace the box OR delivery man knew what it was, and he going to claim it lost and take it for themselves. Happen to be with this exact message but it was an order from walmart for snacks.

AKA the FedEx driver opened your package, stole the PS5, and then marked the packaged as damaged.

See that's where I wonder because how would one know what's inside a brown unmarked box? It's not like original packaging where you see the console, so how would they know what's inside a box and dare open it if they don't only to have to reseal it if it wasn't the pS5?

If the dude is shady he probably has tape on the truck and knows the size of Walmart PS5 packaging. He can just take a peek in the box and if its not what he is looking for throw some clear tape on it and no one would know or question it.

Mine was ordered 8/12 supposed to arrive today and after it got to my city this morning there's now a "delivery exception" and it's delayed possibly 4 days got me nervous.

That's bullshit. I ordered a record player from Target and the FedEx dude literally threw the box onto my porch like a basketball. Box was torn to shreds. The record player still worked though. This Amazon-piss-in-a-bag-AI shit has gotta stop.

Man that's insanely stupid... I get this happens with packages, It does! But THIS many times... ON THE SAME PRODUCT?
Also I think when Wal-mart does its next drop I'll just pass. You all have told me enough horror stories that its not worth my time to buy from them. So seriously, thank you guys for putting up with this shit so I can learn and don't have to put up with it in the future <3.

Walmart will not begin a return/ replacement claim until tomorrow. FedEx says its on Walmart and they won't help. From what I've read i won't be receiving a replacement. Only a refund. Super glad i just loaned almost $600 to a multi billion dollar international corporation interest free for a month.
9/4 Update: I called Walmart first. Their option was refund today. They could not offer a replacement because it was sold out. So it was indeed a loan.
FedEx tracking updated that my Playstation was already in route to be returned to Walmart. It is "currently in Georgia." So I decided to try call FedEx again. Because it went from north Ohio to Georgia in 1 hour 20 minutes with no scans between. It never scanned back into the local hub. Never scanned out to go to GA. Just 5pm it was undeliverable and 6:20pm in GA. That's a 9 hour drive so i was a little suspicious. I accused the driver of theft to their customer service. They wouldn't even consider my argument. They did say that proof of damage was certainly something that could be provided, but the original shipper has to request it. And since Walmart already canceled the order they won't be bothering to request that proof for me. So I'm SOL and hoping target does another drop this Tuesday. Thanks for all the support guys.

I managed to get mine added on wave 8 and checked out on wave 9. It was my first attempt at Walmart, but it wasn't my first attempt overall. Not by a long shot.
