Anyone else experiencing slow clients when connecting over the internet?

Has anyone else experienced slowness or webpage errors when playing on a distant server? Several of my friends have had issues playing on my server, but I haven’t been able to replicate any of the issues using a local connection. I blame the internet, but I don’t have any evidence for or against.
