This is a press release from two weeks ago.

They are not alone. ErgoDEX and Mirqur have solutions to it as well.

So what now. Are things fucked for the 12th or no?

Nope. Everything’s dandy. Basically instead of pushing one transaction after the other onto the chain, put them all into a big basket of your choosing and push that onto the chain.

Wait, whos doing the batching? If the exchange is doing that off-chain then that introduces a point of centralization that makes the DEX moot

The early DEXs will probably have some degree of centralization, unless some DEX project out there has a brilliant idea which we don't know about. Cardano DEXs may not be the best-in-class in the next few months, but according to Charles the few hard forks coming in the next 6-12 months will improve DEX capabilities a lot more. That's not to say that Cardano SC will be useless for 6-12 months, but the DEXs in particular won't be at their best potential.

In my understanding of CHs video he says that there is a whole range of possible solutions including but not necessarily centralized solutions. He says if any of this fails, errors will not concern the central chain.

Hmm. I'm sure there more decentralized ways to do it but I suspect that those will take time and research to design and execute, similar to the L2 stuff on Ethereum.

I don't think this will be ready this month

Edit: Unless they already started researching a while ago

The off-chain portion of Plutus contracts can manage it. It's up to the developers if they make that available or not but people could also write their own off-chain plutus that interacts with the on chain part of the dex

Majority of my holding is Cardano. I dont want to contribute to the FUD by any means. My question was rather oriented to seek a positive/objective response.

My comment is not sarcasm. Everything is fine. Check CH latest video, that’s what he said basically 😄

Ok, lets crack a cold one on the 12th and hope that things dont go south from here :)

Throughout all of this I am just wondering, when will someone need to do more than one tx per block (20 secs) on dexes

1
greentealatte03•

If the Minswap fiasco is just one developer putting out crappy software, that’s fine. I think we’re all hoping this isn’t a symptom of some major flaw with the system.

2
disentad•

You misunderstood the issue, Minswap wasn't running one tx per block per user, it was running one tx per block total. So no matter how many people were trying to use it, only one person could every 20 seconds.

Too many misunderstand the issue.

Ergodex has been tested and never got bogged down by transactions?

Isn't it brilliant how something so fundamental to the success of cardano is up to the developers to solve who will then keep it a secret to maintain a competitive advantage.

Cardano is just lucky to be as big as it is because this wouldn't pass on other chains.

Dark_Pandemonium23•

keep it a secret

Do you mean by fixing the issue & issuing a press release about it weeks ago?¿?

5
Macaroni_and_Sneed•

Link? It was reported that minswap had a solution but would not be releasing it until a while after they launch because they want to have a competitive advantage. Where was this issue "fixed"

I'm sure most of us are capitalists. We like competition :). Its good for advancing technology.
