Help with a young Vengeance Paladin

Backstories

We are starting a new campaign at level 1 and I wanted to play a different kind of character, but am worried it is too melodramatic?

I want to play a 18 year old who just escaped from a bad home life. (Bards + vicious Mockery +Charm spells, she has no proof and they are somewhat important entertainers in the city). She escaped the effects with the help of the "Broken God", and has found she has abilities she never did before.

She is out of her depth, and other than the abuse lived a somewhat rich lifestyle.

I imagine her later taking her oath of vengeance, not out of anger because, like her god, people deserve redemption. But someone has to stop the powerful hurting the helpless, namely children. It's a burden and not something she looks forward to. Her parents are also free from her vengeance because she was their only kid, so there is no need to stop them. Vengeance must serve a purpose.

I was imagining she would be soft spoken, tend to latch on to the other PCs for guidance, a bit finicky because living rough is very new, but kind and while hating her oath, dedicated to it, since she views it as a necessary evil.

Is this too much? If it is how can I flesh her out more? Any advice on how to rp it without going over the top? I tend to rp older characters who dealt with their pasts, and arcs revolve on current goals. Young characters who are running from their past is a bit of an unfamiliar area.
