Rate plan change from SCFM confused on +55 rate plans

Discussion

So our family has had 3 lines for the last couple of years on the Simple Choice +6gb plan. We went to add an additional line last month expecting the $20/m add a line fee. We just got our bill and noticed that the 4th line has a $45 data plan in addition to the $20/m add a line fee. When I called CC they informed me that after April 2019 new lines are no longer grandfathered in and must take the $45 +14gb mobile hot spot data plan. The rep attempted to add several possible SOC but all of them failed.

This is disappointing. So we go over the new plans and compare costs. We get to the +55 plans since our family is qualified we know the Mageneta plan is cheaper.

However, what I don't understand is the price difference between Magenta +55 and Magenta.

Respectively, the website shows

1 Line $50 vs $70,

2 Lines $70 vs $120 ,

3 Lines $105 vs $120 (3rd line free for non +55),

4 Lines $140 vs $140.

How is the +55 plan cheaper when the non +55 plan gets the 3rd line free & the 4 lines for both plans are the same price. The rep just kept informing me that the +55 was cheaper. Am I missing something?

I think that the idea behind the 55 plan is that people over 55 typically are "empty-nesters" and dont need to add additional lines. At least thats the intent, but of course people tend to push the envelope and try to add cheap lines.

There is no 3rd line free for current customers. So its $140 (55+) vs $160 for 4 lines.

I dont see where it says that. If that's the case, why not off a new line promotion on the +55 plan as well?

Existing customers with more than 1 line do not qualify for 3rd line free, so he is correct, 4 lines for 160 on regular magenta

It's cheaper if you have 2 lines. Once you add the 4th line it becomes the same price as a regular Magenta with free 3rd line.

I would contact T-Force on Twitter to try to get $20/mo price for the 4th line on your Simple Choice plan.

Forgot to mention that the $45 was in addition to the $20 add a line fee.

Yeah that doesn’t seem right at all. I would contact TForce on Twitter since you shouldn’t need the hotspot add-on. I just added two lines to my military account and was supposed to get each device for $99 but they did BOGO instead which I was mad about. TForce fixed the issue right away.
