Is there anyway Homelander and Maeve could have saved the people on that plane?

Just wondering if there's an effective way I'm overlooking. I saw one brainiac on youtube say they could have made a chain of people and flew them to the ground. Even Supes would have trouble holding onto a chain of 50 people in that scenario - let alone the normal people in the chain.,
