Challenge 25?
I’ve worked in a few pubs in my time and have asked for proof of ID from people who did to be fair turn out to be 18 or 19. So the ID says.
I heard spot checks are being done in shops to see if staff will ID, with a possible persecution if not.
I just wonder how strictly this is enforced, not underage drink purchases but that law associated with Challenge 25. Surely what “looks 25” is extremely subjective, I just don’t see how even if it came to a court case with a jury duty one would be able to prove anything beyond “here is a collection of 12 adults who believe the sting clearly looks underage”, but that to me would have no bearing on whether defendant believe they were underage. It just seems incredibly subjective in comparison to other laws such as what you have in Scotland with no sales past 10pm (10.01.01 pm on the register? Sorry pal).
Expecting a few bobbies to tell me to use my common sense which is fair enough as I have done behind the bar but surely there is something more than that…
