Am I supposed to hate Diane?

Been binging this show, up to season five where Sam just proposed to Diane. She is an absolutely awful person. In addition to her pretentious ways, her manipulation of Sam into proposing to her is borderline sociopathic.

Is she supposed to get on my nerves like this? Shouldn’t she be likable to me by now so their finally getting together will be all satisfying?
