Strange dreams and "hallucinations"

I want to start this off by saying I know very little about this. I always had an interest in the paranormal, but never really got around studying it. With that said, something is happening to me and I have not the slightest clue what it is, or where else to ask.

So I started having strange dreams around 2 years ago. In these dreams I'd wake up in a circle of light (white circle) in the middle of a black mist. I couldn't see anything beyond the circle. At the edge of the circle stood a man. He was black but not like a human. Just jet black. He had white eyes, and I always saw a white outline around him. That was the only reason that made him stand out from the background. In the first week or so, his didn't speak, he didn't move. He just stoop there. Every time I woke up I felt like I didn't sleep at all. I had these dreams every other night to. After a week,he started talking, but most of the time I didn't remember the conversations. They were conversation that much I know, but what about? I have no clue. When I did remember it was usually one or to words. But either I misunderstood them, or they were in a language that neither I nor Google understood. This "stage" of conversations lasted for about half a year. I would always feel tired after waking up. Then there was one dream when something started pulling him into the dark mist. He reached out to me without saying a word, and I took his hand. I immediately woke up, screaming.

Since then I didn't see him in my dreams. I still wake up every other night in that circle, but there's Noone there but me. However I keep seeing him in real life. Always just out of the corner of my eye. I saw a psychiatrist. Not officially tho. He is a friend of a friend and he agreed to have a chat. I originally thought I might have scicofrenia (I'm almost sure I butchered that word) but he said that it's most likely just exhaustion, and that I should see a doctor with my bad sleeping habits.

I had a notebook, in witch I had a few scribbles and words I wrote down after dreams. I actually talked to a catholic priest (I'm don't follow any one religion) if he could help me. I showed him the notebook, and he asked if he could take it and "look onto this more deeply " that was a week ago and I still didn't hear from him.

I'm pretty lost at what might be happening. Every time I wake up from these dreams, I have sleep paralysis. I'm starting to worry. I might have left out a few details so if anything is unclear please ask in the comments. I would really appreciate some help finding out what this might be.
