420 hours and Ive never gotten a random skin drop

I mainly play on modded servers however I've been told this doesn't matter for random skin drops, I have 420 hours and when viewing my inventory I only have twitch drops and a single sign post, I have friends with ten hours in rust and they have random skin drops, am I just super unlucky or is my account glitched or something, or do I have to play on official server?
