What great video game had a terrible/disappointing sequel?

Mirrors edge - the thought of an open world sequel sounded cool on paper, but syndicate was seriously disappointing

Didn't help that the game was a reboot.
The most egregious part of the game was the fact that it had a skill tree. Faith begins the game as an experienced Runner already so why the hell do I need XP buy a skill so she can roll from high falls or even turn around while running?

Doom Eternal was pretty disappointing to me after Doom 2016 got everything right.

How tf that game is good I would say mario 2
Not a fan of Mario 2, but it's better than 1. I hate Yoshi's Island. It's terrible compared to World.
