Appsmith and the security of my database credentials

So after a pretty exhaustive review I think I've decided on using Appsmith as our company's Lowcode solution. However, before I commit resources to this project, I have two very basic questions I'd like answered by people who might know:

• How fearful should I be about entering in database credentials to our production database -- both from the perspective of self-hosted and the Appsmith cloud?
• Where will Appsmith be 10 years from now? Put another way, how fearful should I be that within 10 years this tool is abandoned?
