Release in 2042

I'm waiting for CDPR to release the real Cyberpunk in 2089, I think I can handle waiting for Battlefield in 2042.

24
RagnarokTyr•

you're Right !

5
TheBountyHunterIX•

DICE has been very, very quiet with 2042 so this should honestly come as a shock to no one.

106

Big agree. Most devs push their games like crazy a month from release. The silence was almost deafening which should’ve been enough to tell us it wasn’t comin on time.

3
ImSaimo•

I wonder where they got the balls to say that that this would be “the franchise’s earliest alpha”, probably from Nicki Minaj’s cousin

61
RobberryanOP•

Nicki Minaj's Cousin's Friend to be exact.

Is that the one with the giant balls?

Welp, hopefully it’s not a significant delay but I can’t imagine they’ll want to launch in between Call of Duty and Halo Infinite.

Early 2022?

February is jam packed with games at the moment. No shooters I guess but still...

12

January is not packed apart from Elden Ring so they could release it there

Quite literally not competing with BF2042 in the slightest lmao

13
BGunn_1996•

I swear there was a rumor at one point (before announcement) that EA was looking at moving Battlefield to March so it would still release in the financial year but wouldn't have to risk losing out on sales by constantly going up against COD...

Don't know if there was any truth to the rumour but I can kind of see something similar actually happening with the game moving from October to Feb/March and becoming the first big shooter of 2022.

6
RedHawwk•

I’d be fine with that. I’d rather have a better game at launch than some rushed pile of carp.

1
andreasmiles23•

Battlefield has always released in the fall. They have no problem competing with the other shooters.

-1
ryan19944•

Halo will be delayed too what's the bet

No chance.

I feel like it definitely should be, but it won't.

Why am I getting down voted you slime balls

-5†
vladtud•

Because most people don't use downvotes the way they were designed. They should be for comments that add nothing to the discussion or that are harmful but instead, people downvote comments they disagree with.

on one hand....im glad we got confirmation from the leaked discord. People hate Jeff but I've always found him reliable

On the other hand...whoever took that screenshot is a damn snitch!!! he said keep it quiet! lmao

41
Stubee1988•

Why do people hate Jeff? I only came across him when he started Grubbsnax and he seems lovely.

21
LordSlasher•

people love to post his speculations or what he thinks as fact. When Jeff says something he’s usually correct, but its people taking what he says and changes it.

23
TheVictor1st•

Because when he’s speculating, people take that as fact and post it on this sub. So when that speculation turns out to be wrong, people go “SEE???!!!”.

Kojima Xbox deal was the climax in this sub. There were people on Copium and attacking him for that, though that might’ve been the blue box cult.

17
EatleYT•

Jeff is a super nice guy and he's one of the most reliable people out there when it comes to this stuff

Does this essentially hand the Holiday season to Halo? Maybe Vanguard?

26
ilorybss•

Vanguard, even tho Halo will be better

20
gsf32•

Well maybe if Halo wasn't an exclusive it would thrive more

-7
W0lf87•

Halo peaked in 2007 with Halo 3, the franchise just doesn't capture the publics attention like in the past plus the fact infinite will not be a complete game on launch.

-12†

As much as I hate it’s not complete that won’t have much bearing on this, the multiplayer is what will be what makes it a hit or not

12
EverBurningPheonix•

Multiplayer is free though, so wont drive sales??

3
ThinWhiteDuke00•

Campaign and multiplayer.

Halo offers such a huge package that these will be available at launch and people will still complain..

3†
W0lf87•

They had a year delay, yet its still incomplete on launch which makes you wonder what state it was in last year when Phil drop the mic Spencer assured fans it was great.

4†
AmazingPatt•

and F2P mp on paper sound real nice...but ... if the cheat protection is bad... cheater in halo is the last thing it gonna need and put a big stake in it.

1†
Hedgehogkilla•

Call of duty was always going to dominate the holiday season. I don’t know why so many people on this sub seem to think battlefield or halo (lol) stood a chance.

-11†
Oh_I_still_here•

I'm a die hard Halo fan and yep cod will remain king. Halo doesn't have the same pull as it did 14 years ago.

13

Well I mean if we’re talking sales, you’re losing out to cod because you don’t have the PlayStation audience.

8
[deleted]•

honestly, i doubt it (on Xbox)

Halo Infinite's multiplayer is F2P and the Campaign will be on Game Pass. it's already guaranteed to have a huge playerbase upon launch and i wouldn't be surprised if it holds up much stronger against Vanguard's (considering the legs MW2019 and Cold War had with Activision shooting those games in the foot)

F2P/Game Pass games essentially dominate the entire most played list of games on Xbox right now and Halo is also gonna be a huge breath of fresh air on launch (especially with many people waiting for the 'next big thing')

While yes that will be a large player base you are forgetting CoD has the PS player base while Halo won’t.

Halo will be popular on Xbox and likely fairly popular in general but you’re kidding yourself if you think it will stand up to CoD.

I just noticed both last gen and current gen versions on Cold War are even in the top played games

3†

Of course COD is going to have a bigger player population. It being on more platforms alone is enough to guarantee that. People should just care that Halo has a healthy population and it’s a good game. Comparing numbers directly to COD is futile.

1
LostInStatic•

And that is the sound of champagne bottles popping open at Activision offices

20
Teflonhession•

they pop anyway. you're trippin if you think a battlefield release is gonna stop new cod from making a billion dollars every year

40
iceleel•

bUt 2042 is GoNnA kIlL CoD - gamespot

6
LostInStatic•

Idk where you have been but even amongst the casual FPS crowd the reception to vanguard has been very lukewarm.

-3†
V3rtigo44•

And its still most likely gonna sell like hotcakes

19
Dapper-Device•

Wouldn’t be so sure of that the beta has been rough.

The audio is terrible and needs a redesign and so do the spawns for all the maps. Visibility is questionable and operators are lacking for launch (supposedly only 12! Should have been at least 20).

Only thing that will help sell cod vanguard is the big update to gunsmith allowing people to be making wacky weapons, as well as the 16 maps on launch.

In my honest opinion they needed to double the list of operators for launch, have a heap of new modes for multiplayer, as well as maybe add a spec ops mode since Treyarch worked solely on zombies.

Vanguard content so far for launch is piss poor and that’s coming from someone who isn’t a annoying cod kid who expects everything given to them for free.

-3
Teflonhession•

doesn't matter, could be the worst cod in the series globally and sell less copies than advanced warfare and it'll still sell more copies than battefield and make more money through skin packs

9

This happens almost every year with CoD and it still dominates, it’s not changing this year

3
deoneta•

Is this your first time? Lol. CoD will dominate.

The "casual FPS crowd" -- if they're posting online, they're more hardcore than CoD's core audience or Halo's or Battlefield's or any microtransaction platform. Most people don't post online at all.

He has good Ea and mircosoft info (one who is making the game and the other who has marketing rights) and it’s been backed up by speshal nick and okami, not to mention a few smaller leakers. I think it’s real.

Dangerman1337Leakies Awards Winner 2021•

Doesn't read like delayed next year, probably late November.

Still if its a delay into next year it makes me wish they targeted a September 2022 20th anniversary release instead of pushing a cross gen 2021 release.

I think cross gen hurting development as way more QA is needed for multiple generations.

8
[deleted]•

More likely the pandemic that’s hurt the game like all the other delayed games.

1
Dangerman1337Leakies Awards Winner 2021•

I should've stated that Pandemic hurts QA quite a bit but Cross-gen + Pandemic? That's going to cause a lot of delays.

2
ZeldaMaster32•

Would QA suffer that much? We have low latency streaming with software like Parsec that could let QA test from home if needed
