Rest in Peace /u/shitpost953
u/shitpost953, also know as u/JerryfromTomandJerry, has passed. He was one of my earliest and closest friends on reddit and discord and, due to his incredibly friendly and outgoing nature, befriended and touched the lives of hundreds in a way that went beyond the superficial. He loved nothing more than to meet and explore new and unique social communities.
A mod of over 650 subreddits, jerry, as his friends knew him, was not at all typical of the often scorned archetype of a "powermod." It was from no thirst for status that he ended up modding so many places. It just naturally flowed from his love of interesting and diverse groups of people and his seeming ability to be known wherever he went. His love of mischief and shit stirring also no doubt played a role, often to hilarious effect. He could talk about almost anything and to almost anyone. He truly loved people. And he went all over to find and befriend new ones. A digital vagabond who left you with a laugh, introductions to new friends and warm memories wherever he went.
And now those of us who knew him well are still blessed with these memories. Although our hearts break we have been touched for life by such a dear and true friend. Jerry came into my life when I was in a social transition. My old social circles had gone by the wayside and new ones were forming here online. Jerry introduced me to so many people who are now some of my dearest friends, very very far from the least of which was he himself. I owe him a tremendous debt for the many kindnesses he showed me, but more for that than any other.
Thank you jerry. I will never forget you.

One of my favourite people.
I don't want to put too much emphasis on him always being nice to everyone because that sounds boring when he was anything but.
On the contrary, if I ever felt bored I would just talk to him and he would point me to the latest shitfest that was happening online. From big things like youtubers showing up at each other's houses to fight, to smaller things like 2 random morons on Discord staying in voice chat for 4 hours to argue who hates women the most.
I can't overemphasise how common it was for me to spot a stranger online that I had no relation to, only to find that we both knew Jerry. He knew everyone, and he wanted everyone to know each other as well. And some us were lucky enough to get to talk to him regularly. He really was 'larger than life'. He was one of a kind and I doubt I'll meet someone like him again who was so involved with everyone. Best I can do is to try to be more like him.
I'll be missing you, jerry.
