On the topic of Ager's Scepter, Coldheart and Wavesplitter need a buff and identity.

Bungie Suggestion

To begin, I feel the other Trace Rifles have good power for what they do, and have an identity.

Lens literally MELTS all the adds in front of you, and grows more powerful as you use it. Divinity is strictly a team weapon, not doing much damage itself to increase the damage teammates do and make their lives easier. Ruinous Effigy is strictly a defensive support weapon revolving around your relics protecting you and getting things out of your face.

Coldheart

The Single Target DPS trace rifle

It does slightly more than Wavesplitter does, and a little bit better than Ager's Scepter does against Majors and Bosses. However, Wavesplitter ends up doing more average damage and saving more ammo on adds because its start-up does like 50% more damage than Coldheart does. If your teammates are creating orbs or they ever bring back the melee orb mod, Wavesplitter becomes Coldheart with no charge up, better stability and handling.

Simply, give coldheart 25% more damage at max charge, have the charge ramp faster (I think it's about 2.5 seconds now, lets cut that to 1.5 seconds or so) and have its charge ramp down over 3 seconds. This gives it the single target trace rifle niche but allows it slightly better add clear than it currently has by not just losing all of its charge every time you switch targets.

Wavesplitter

The consistently inconsistent Trace Rifle

I feel that the Wavesplitter's damage is fine, but its utility is not there, at all what-so-ever. It's basically just an auto-rifle that can't decide what level of Rampage it's on. As such, let's spice it up.

Catalyst: Allows you to change to light-based elements, counts elemental wells as Orbs of Power for the purposes of its perk for ten seconds, matching elemental orbs additionally increasing its performance (handling, stability, range, recoil direction) for fifteen seconds. That way it harmonizes with your build.

Thank you for not suggesting coldheart be changed to stasis.

That's Ager's Scepters catalyst, freeing us from the stasis coldhart memes

wavesplitter synergizing with elemental wells sounds really interesting

Honestly the only thing that needs to be done to Wave Splitter is to make it so it can generate orbs and have a kill tracker.

The orbs because that’s also what oscillates the power of the beam. And the weapon is at a clear disadvantage when you can’t make your beam stronger via the orbs, since you can’t generate them with gun kills.

Which giving it a catalyst will do by default. But after that, it becomes just the coldheart without the changes detailed above to the coldheart, or worse coldheart if they buff it.

Thus, making the catalyst have synergy with elemental wells, and allowing it to face different types of shields on one build gives it the flexibility and utility that the other trace rifles don't have.

I don't care much for the idea of giving yet another Exotic an element switching ability. Hardlight, and now also Borealis, already fill that niche, really don't think we need another weapon in that lane.

I think Wavesplitter using MW orbs to keep it's damage up as a great ad-clear weapon would make it more than okay by itself; I've built into being able to do that before, and it really does perform well. If you really want to give it something else though, I'd suggest doing something to play into keeping its buff up for prolonged periods of time. Perhaps every 10 consecutive seconds you spend with the buff up could grant the weapon an escalating buff to Stability, Handling, and Flinch Reduction. Maybe even have a thing where past 30 seconds with the buff active, you get passively generated Wavesplitter ammo (~10 ammo a second?) added to your mag or something. That would help us lean further into the existing minigame and fantasy of the gun, while also bolstering its role as an ad-and-major clear weapon by making it feel smoother and hyper ammo-efficient once you get it rolling.

Edit: Also, I think an interesting route to go with Coldheart would be to just significantly raise the cap on its damage. So, say right now it ramps up to x2 damage, let it fill the bar a second time to continue ramping up to x3. Piggy-backing off of one of your changes, we could have it ramp down more slowly when you have more stacks, such that keeping the buff is easier the higher you get it. So at full x3 ramp up, it might give you enough time to reload and still have maybe 2.5x damage when you start that next mag, but if you only get to 2x the buff will probably fall off before the reload is done. That way it serves its role as an Exotic DPS rifle effectively and fills a unique niche of having extremely good Sustained DPS, while avoiding giving it a blanket damage buff that'd let it encroach on the territory of dedicated ad-clear weapons like Wavesplitter.

Coldheart was my first exotic (got a code for it from the case for a pre order but never pre ordered the game) and to see it be lacking is so sad.
