I hear about ADHDers being late to everything, but what about being chronically EARLY?
This is one symptom I could never relate to - being late to everything. I am never late; but I am also never on time.
I am chronically early for everything. We're talking 30+ minutes. I think it's because I get overwhelmed and anxious if I am cutting it close to being late, so instead I arrive way too early and just sit in my car until it's time to do the thing.
I read once that it is a coping mechanism.
Not being late made me doubt my ADHD diagnosis and contribute to my imposter syndrome. But the conclusion I've come to is that I'm giving myself so much extra time because I can't accurately determine what the right amount of time to get myself somewhere is. I have a rough idea, and then I double or triple it.
I lose so much time this way. 😔
