Christian schools & anime
Those who attended Christian schools, what was your school's position on anime? I went to a fundie-lite (assemblies of god) school in the late 90s/early 2000s, when pokemon was becoming popular. The administration claimed that anime was "the devil's work" and that pokemon specifically was blasphemous because of the mythical creatures (not on the ark, not of god I guess). We were not allowed to watch it or bring the cards, toys, or manga on campus. They also banned bleach, naruto, dragon ball, sailor moon, etc. They allowed disney but nothing studio ghibli. My sister's teacher had her convinced (at 6 years old) that she was going to hell for watching inuyasha. 20 years later, she's been deprogrammed and rewatched the series during quarantine lol. Kagome was a fantastic role model for her. Was it allowed at your school? Why/why not?
