Nearly 10 months!
Was just browsing this thread and realised it's nearly 10 months since I had my last smoke. Thought I'd just share with you what I did - I kept the pack of tobacco on the coffee table right in front of me, and every time I had a craving I said to myself "I can have it anytime, but in this very moment I am choosing not to have one, because if I have one now then this will lead to another (it always does) and I will be a smoker for the rest of my life" and imagined myself 20 years down the line, old and nicotine stained and sick Vs 20 years down the line happy and healthy.
I think keeping the stuff within sight so I could consciously think about it and say no to it over and over again was very empowering and allowed me to build up that ability to say no. I smoked for about 16 years overall and in all previous attempts I would say "ok, I'm never smoking again", throw the stuff in the bin, and just try to distract myself. It always ended up in my fishing it back out of the bin.
