MID draft first impressions discussion

Discussion

From my experience doing my first few premier drafts:

Blue has some of the best common and uncommons, disturb fliers are great, but it also has a ton of durdly filler, counterspells and card draw that you don't want multiple of. Shallow card pool.

Red has a lot of mana efficient cards but few two for one card advantage options compared to other colors. Due to spells matter vs vampires matter vs werewolves matter splitting the color it feels like a shallow card pool for any particular strategy.

Black has good removal but 1 for 1 removal isn't a good game plan, flashback cards and disturb creatures will overwhelm you. The little 2/2 zombie tokens aren't even close to real creatures but you get so many of them for free it seems a bit overpowered. Black feels like it has the most self-synergy going on, everything works with everything, deep card pool of playables.

White has creatures all over the mana curve that do everything, draw cards, spread +1/+1 counters, disturb back to life as fliers.... but there isn't really a strong game plan? Your opponent can just put some beefy creatures on defense and you can't attack them anymore. Deep pool of playables.

Green is a bit like blue, you have a few amazing commons and uncommons but it feels very shallow. Killing fliers, enchantments and even ramping are basically unplayable filler. Small and medium size creatures that just trade 1 for 1 in combat don't feel great. Some of greens better commons are the fight spells and combat tricks where it leaves behind permanent buffs or draws a card but it is somewhat lacking in decent early creatures to play them onto. Medium depth card pool but you have to watch your creature count while drafting.
