“Don’t take any in, and don’t go looking for any”

An older man with two adult daughters my age and grandchildren told me this pertaining to women, unrelatedly after telling me he had daughters. And I asked him semi jokingly “What do you tell your daughters” he didn’t get why I was asking so I just let it go as the half joke it was. It was a few days ago, but I’m still trying to sort out his logic.

I know what he meant, but what exactly would compel a married man with adult children who have husbands and children of their own to say this to another younger adult man.
