Is Harvest Moon/SOS series are more enjoyable without guidance/walkthrough?

The title has said it all; as a harvest moon player who has played this game for years, I always use walkthroughs to help me finish the series. I want to know: did you guys also use the guide to complete the harvest moon game? or you prefer to play this game randomly so you can experience a spoiler-free and more "unknown possibility" gaming experience.

As a context: what I mean by using walktrough/guide is not just a light guide to check out villager's favorite items or how to unlock mine: it's more like using a walktrough to unlock various perks from the beginning, making plans for the next 2 -3 months so u can play the game as smooth and as efficient as possible, with almost no mistakes, which sometimes makes me feel like I'm completing the game objectives earlier (sometimes way earlier) than I should, especially when I get rich too early or complete the required task too quickly and that makes me a little less enjoy to finish the game even before I got married. I remember having fun playing HM Hero of Lost Valley and finally not bothered finish the task that I've been work so hard for nor got married because I already rich and the game feel stagnant ever since. The same thing happened with SOS FOMT when I didn't even try to marrying my bachelor after I did the easy-money-trick related to horse festival.
