Henredon sofa metal strap webbing repair

I recently purchased an old Henredon sofa that I’m looking to refurbish. The coil springs rest on a thick black tarp-like material, supported by a loose lattice of black metal straps that look basically indistinguishable from steel vent/pipe hanging straps. The coils appear in good shape, but several of the supporting metal straps are detached from the frame resulting in a sagging seat.

I’m an amateur at best, and I’ve found very limited information about working with metal webbing or straps. Are there any best practices or other words of wisdom to be aware of when repairing this? Should I attempt to reattach the existing metal straps, scrap them and attach new ones, scrap the metal entirely and go with a different form of webbing? Are these metal straps original? It’s a 90+ inch leather chesterfield with a tufted non removable seat, I don’t know what year, but I believe it’s <20 years old. Any guidance would be appreciated!
