Question for unarmed Officers

What training, means, and/or SOPS are you given to protect yourself and others at your post? Before I got my armed license, my former department put me through OC/cuffs/expandable baton. It seems really dangerous to me companies like AU and Securitas want to hire unarmed guards at warehouses and such with no means to protect themselves.

So TLDR: what are you allowed to carry either officially or unofficially, and what are your guidelines?
