Newbie freighter question

Discussion

I've browsed the net for quite a while to find the answer, but I don't know if they are all up to date.

When I buy or exchange for a new freighter, do all my commanding rooms, cargo rooms transfer over as well? I've seen people saying I should strip it down before I buy, is this still true?

Also is the maximum number of frigates still 30?

And do frigates tiers (edit: class) upgrade? I've seen people saying this somewhere.

Thanks in advance for any quick answers!

I see your questions have been answered already, I was just wondering what the point of having 30 frigates is. Max you can send out is 25.

I guess the ones you leave at home can come to your aid in a pirate fight if they're nearby, but pirates are such an afterthought in this game and pose no threat whatsoever anyway.

I really wish relatively low level pirates would just leave me the heck alone once they scan and learn that I reached the max milestone in destroying ships, a notoriety/reputation based fight or flight system, so I don't have to engage in meaningless and one-sided encounters all the time.

oh that's a good point with 25 being max, I guess just having the flexibility?

I've transferred twice and all rooms transferred no issue.

And as far as I know the frigate limit is 30.

And by frigate tier, do you mean class?

ah thanks! and yeah, I meant class, seems like they do

Frigates improve their class and their stats as they complete successful missions. I usually start out buying almost entirely cheap C-class frigates. It takes a while but eventually you can make them S-class.

Thanks! Yeah I should level them up that way as well, made the mistake and bought some S and A class. So do S classes just not improve in stats at all?

S-class still gain experience. Each frigate has stats associated with its experience in combat, industrial missions, exploration, and trading. But you can't increase the class beyond S-class.

Ah gotcha! thanks for the answers!

All your interior decorations will be transferred over ever since Prism came along so you don't need to strip them down. The only thing you need to worry about is needing to hunt for the upgrade modules and storage expansion from derelicts once more.

oh that's right, I am pretty new in the game like only 40 hr in, so not much modules and expansions as of now.... now I am worried lol

Yes. It used to be that you would have to manually delete everything but now it transfers over exactly as you had it on your previous freighter.

That’s why a lot of stuff from a year or two ago that you’ll see on a google search will talk about it not transferring.

I’m not positive about the max number of frigates but 30 sounds right.

Frigate tiers upgrade but it’s not something you can purchase. The fleet management option (north side of the holo chart thing) will show you how many incidents it will take until it tiers up. Basically it levels up as it sees more action

Ah thanks for the detailed reply! yeah, I guess I am lucky to break in the game now, it seems like so much work having to take everything down. Tho I am far from enough credits to buy a new freighter :(

It's a huge pain to encounter a nice S class freighter and not having nearly enough credits to buy (just happened today, it's really good looking as well, black with golden lines)... holy cow, they are so expensive...

Thanks for asking this. I’ve never switched because I thought I’d have to rebuild all my rooms inside my freighter.

yeah, it's immediately my worry cuz I know I'd wanna switch to a good looking S class freighter as my next goal. Most answers online are like at least a year old, so I thought I should just ask again.

Now I just need like 200 million credits to buy a new freighter Lol Gonna take a while...
