Anyone else notice how mystified the Skywalker saber is in the sequels?

Movies

I'm not here to start an argument about which trilogy is better, people deserve to love what they love.

In the prequels, Anakin's saber is just another lightsaber. Yes that lightsaber is "his life" but everyone's well aware it isn't more than just a lightsaber.

In the originals, Luke gets his father's lightsaber and it's important to him but when he loses it in Empire, they don't even acknowledge that it's gone. It's used as a metaphor in the writing sure, but Luke just replaces it instead of hunting it down or being obsessed with it.

Now compare that to the sequels where in each movie it's basically the central focus, it's what Kylo is after. TFA Kylo desperately wants it, it's the cliffhanger transitioning into TLJ, again Rey and Kylo fight over it in TLJ and AGAIN it's a key part of TRoS. It's basically the most important object in those movies. I feel like when Disney was making the sequels they confused the commercial Star Wars with the "real" Star Wars. Same with the Skywalker name. Why would you want that last name when it's essentially the Hitler of the Star Wars universe.
