My birthdays is coming up, worried that she'll contact me.
I went no contact with Mother and Brother, just dropped the rope. I didn't get a camera, I didn't start a file on anything and Brother moved out.
I haven't heard from either of them since. It's been amazing. Life is just... easier. Especially the part about not being in contact with Mother. There are SO MANY little passive guilt-tripping behaviours that just disappeared from my communication with SO, and still even more stuff that I see I need to go to therapy to get help with.
But here's my issue:
My birthday is in two days and my daughters birthday is in two weeks. I'm starting to feel anxious about these upcoming birthdays, and am worried if she'll use it as an excuse to contact me.
SO is my gatekeeper, he will handle any and all communication from Mother so I'm not really worried about having to see her or talk to her ever again. I'm just feeling like there's some sort of metaphorical door we could close so I can stop wondering if she is going to contact me, like telling her about the no contact or something?
My sister was at first a little torn in between me and Mother. We are extremely close, we have a very strong relationship that we managed to forge out of the rubble of an older drama-filled one and I was TERRIFIED of losing her in this whole thing. Mother and her started a business together a couple of years ago, so considering the amount of time they spend together, I was afraid of putting her in the middle.
Well, all that anxiety was for nothing, because she was very understanding and just amazing about the whole thing. She let's me open up about my relationship with Mother and showed so much empathy... I love her to death. The only thing I have to watch out for is to not try to change Sisters opinion about Mother, that way I can express my feelings without making her "take my side".
Sister has told me that Mother has been wondering what to do about me. If she is supposed to call me or what, she probably expects the whole thing to be swept under the rug when I get over everything. So the only reason I have been wondering if SO should tell Mother about the NC is to let Sister off the hook of having to listen to Mother wonder about what she should do.
Should we say anything?
EDIT:
I didn't say a word, got a text from her wishing me a happy birthday an I deleted it without opening it, more of a statement for myself: I'll save anything that shows her JN behaviour, but I won't entertain the surface level keeping-up-appearances bullshit she throws my way.
Now I just need to be ready for my daughter's 4th birthday which is coming up in one week.
