[Dynamite/Rampage spoilers] To everyone who defended 5 hours and the show running past midnight on a Wednesday

NSFWSpoiler

By the looks of it, the building was half empty for the main event. Pics are up all over twitter.

Legit feel bad for Eddie Kingston performing in his home town when half the crowd already walked out and didn’t bother staying for his match.

There was no need to tape an hour of Elevation tonight. Show could have ended no later than 11 pm and you’d have a mostly full building to close the show.

The last Elevation was 90 minutes, which could have been split into two 45 minute episodes.

No major event should have people streaming out of the building during the show. Tony needs to learn from this.

The crowd absolutely wasn't half empty what are you on about lol

62
twistedlogicx.•

Even if everything in his post is wrong, I agree with the line about Elevation. It really isn't that important and you don't need to tape it during a show like this.

23
TerrorKingAConsensual penis•

Elevation was 3 short matches that didn't even fill out 40 minutes. It was just there for people who got there early.

3
twistedlogicx.•

Right, but instead of doing that, they could have done one hour of Rampage before the show instead and advertised that to the locals ahead of time.

You'd have more people at the arena before the show started and it would have ended sooner, allowing people to still get home at a moderately reasonable time.

TerrorKingAConsensual penis•

You realize you're advocating for a longer show, right? Because that's what you're advocating.

The start time was 8. If you got there sooner than 8, then you got three warm up matches. Your suggestion is to start earlier, have big matches before Dynamite and tire the audience out before the A-show. That's nonsense. It's effectively a longer broadcast if people are more tired, all so the show ends maybe 40 minutes earlier? C'mon.

There was still a lot people there for the main event. Eddie looked like he loved every second of it

46
Linuxlite365OP•

Sure there were a lot of people. But about half of them already left. You think Eddie wouldn’t have preferred to perform in front of a full building?

-73
amedeoismeYour Text Here•

Half is a huge stretch

52
MC_FuzzyElectric Steel Chair•

Yeah I didn’t see half the arena leaving, so maybe I was too into the matches or half is a strong word here.

EDIT: I do agree, no late shows on a fucking Wednesday (11PM is the latest for these things) but the match ended before midnight, and I would say 10K people left.

15
TBellaR•

You weren’t there. You can’t give an accurate accounting of how many people left.

21
Linuxlite365OP•

How do pictures work?

-42
[deleted]•

You do know half leaving is still 10K people. But I do think it was a mistake filming Elevation before Dynamite.

10
genicide182We built this city!!!•

You don't know what Eddie wanted, because you're not* him.

Fuck outta here

0†

I was there. No way half empty. The video of his post show speech should be out and crowd was wild for Eddie.

38
sporkshadow•

Maybe Tony should learn from people who were actually there instead of some dude who wasn't and is hanging out on Twitter.

37
Linuxlite365OP•

The pictures were doctored? Is that what we’re going with now?

This is so weird.

-34
tstk799•

I don’t think anyone left my section until it was over, I can’t say what it looked like in others tho

27
ScruffyMagicDo the right thing•

Yeah, building seemed pretty full from my POV when the main event ended. No clue what OP's on about.

13
Sylverstone14You think you know me.•

My section (302) didn't budge unless they were taking a piss break or running to grab concessions - Rampage's crowd didn't look thin at all.

12
OllyOllyOxenBitch•

Assuming from pictures? Sheesh, most of the people who were actually there said otherwise.

24
ackinsocraycrayHEY GO FUCK YOURSELF. GET THAT GUY OUTTA HERE. PIECE OF SHIT.•

OP addresses legit concerns about a 5-hour long wrestling show on Wednesday. AEW shouldn't make that a weekly thing. I think that's asking a lot even for their hardcore fans.

But there's a notable discrepancy between OP's observing pictures from social media versus the people who were actually there. Not to mention OP sounds like he's speaking on Eddie's behalf in response to other comments.

0†
OllyOllyOxenBitch•

Rampage isn't typically two hours long. And yes, they could've done without Elevation (Dark is taped elsewhere now), but the dark matches are there to warm up the crowd for the main show.

It's a legit concern, sure, but the OP is straight up a concern troll with how belligerent they're being for a person who wasn't even there at the show.

2
ackinsocraycrayHEY GO FUCK YOURSELF. GET THAT GUY OUTTA HERE. PIECE OF SHIT.•

This is the first time Dynamite/Rampage tapings ran over 4 hours.

It's not a weekly thing.

20
Linuxlite365OP•

Absolutely false. They regularly go well over 4 hours. Shows start at 7 pm and end long after 11 pm. This one went past midnight, which is nuts.

-20
ackinsocraycrayHEY GO FUCK YOURSELF. GET THAT GUY OUTTA HERE. PIECE OF SHIT.•

Rampage is not regularly live or 2 hours long.

Dark matches are now taped as a studio show at Universal Studios.

This night was longer than usual.

20
Linuxlite365OP•

You stated this was the first time tapings went over 4 hours. That’s simply untrue. Last week’s tapings went over 4 hours.

-6
cooljammer00Anxious Millennial Shitposter•

I was there. Photos can be misleading.

13
Gremlinsworth•

That’s going to happen no matter the hour in a place like NY and knowing you have 20000 other people to contend with in traffic.

12
Linuxlite365OP•

That’s nonsense. I’ve never seen half the building empty out at any WWF PPV or televised event in NYC. Don’t see it at NY Ranger games either.

-8
Sylverstone14You think you know me.•

I was there and people definitely stayed for Rampage - anyone who left did so to beat the rush, which made sense.

12
KikiFlowersFuck you pay me!•

Learn from what?

11
Linuxlite365OP•

Having fans streaming out of the building in droves during the show.

Probably better to avoid that if you can in the future.

-8
KikiFlowersFuck you pay me!•

If people were leaving it's because it was a late show on a Wednesday. While I think Grand Slam should have had a live Rampage, there's no way to pull that off in the same building.

14
Linuxlite365OP•

Did you read the original post you replied to?

-4
KikiFlowersFuck you pay me!•

Yes? There's nothing to "learn from". It's a late show on wednesday night, they expected this would happen.

14
tabristheok•

Sure hope it wasnt 1500 people

4
EndOfDays2525•

I was there and I'd say a majority of the crowd stayed from my view at least

9
g00s3y•

OP is trying to troll, doing a horrible job.

9
toodarkmark•

I was there, very few people left. Not sure what pictures youre seeing dude.

Edit: Its a concern toll who wasnt there. Yeah, stop lying about pictures youve seen.

Also, the crowd was hot for the last match. The only thing Tony needs to learn is to ignore concern trolls.

7
Linuxlite365OP•

“I saw pictures of a half empty building.”

“Stop lying. You weren’t even there!”

What does being there have to do with seeing pictures? What kind of bizarre talking point is that?

You don’t need to be on the moon to see pictures of it.

-5
toodarkmark•

You got links to these pictures? Or you just saw them somewhere? And they better not be pictures of the post match celebration when people left.

4
TomHanks12345•

Agreed it just ran too late. Had to leave at 1140

5†
dachosenonexxbv•

I was there. Did some people leave sure half not at all. Maybe 15%

5
rush247•

I actually agree since with what they already have taped from the two sessions on Sep 11th for Dark they could've easily filled Elevation's spot.

Edit: For those wondering I believe they filmed 4 episodes of Dark, they've only shown 2.

3†
Linuxlite365OP•

It was completely unnecessary to go that long. You don’t even need to use Dark footage. Just cut this week’s Elevation in half. No need for that show to be 90 minutes to begin with.

-1†
rush247•

This is true too although now that I think about it I'm not sure some of the wrestlers would be ok with getting a night that big off. Also I'm not sure they'd get paid.

-1†
Robertkr1986•

Constructive criticism is good, they need to know this for next time

3†
sporkshadow•

Constructive criticism from some guy who wasn't even there?

25
Linuxlite365OP•

How are you communicating with us right now? Are we talking in person?

-2†

Will there be a next time, though?

Because it doesn't seem like these same circumstances will exist again.

-9
Linuxlite365OP•

Next time they run the building. Don’t do 5+ hours of tapings that end past midnight and run off your audience.

2

I'm not talking about the next time they run the building.

I'm talking about the next time they tape two hours of Rampage after Dynamite. Those circumstances won't exist again.

3†
Linuxlite365OP•

Well, if they do, they need to learn from this.

3
[deleted]•

Less about length, but no show in the middle of the week should be going past 11pm. Just can't expect people to be that committed to get home by 1am+ and it's a shame for Kingston.

Expecting some bad faith arguments to come from this unfortunately.

3†
Linuxlite365OP•

The only bad faith arguments I’ve seen so far are coming from defenders.

“Eddie liked it that only half the crowd was there.”

“You aren’t forced to stay!” (Yeah, and half the crowd left).

-6
BullBuchanansTie•

First of all, everyone DRINK!

The show aired live, so even without Elevation it would've still ended past midnight. The only way around that would be to book Arthur Ashe stadium twice and film Rampage live on Friday. And if they did that, I'm sure you'd be concern trolling about how Tony wasn't giving people their money's worth by doing it all on one night or was burning out the territory by running two shows in the same building in three days.

"Tony needs to learn from this", fucking lol.
