Do American teens know the cone meme ("It's about the _____")?

I’m in my late 20s and recently started tutoring high school seniors (all girls in California). I’m wondering if they are likely to be familiar with the Ben Wyatt cone meme, where he's holding up his hand and saying "It's about the cones" (where "cones" gets replaced by whatever you want the meme to be about).

If I used the cone meme to explain a concept, would that be weird? (Of course I will also explain the concept in a more normal way.) Would it come across as too try-hard / cringe / “hello fellow kids”?
