Coworker used my correct pronouns for the first time!!
I have been working in health care in my province since March, helping with Covid immunization clinics. I work at any given site through out my city, based on where they need me, so I see a lot of other employees, and rarely work with the same ones twice.
I recently got a "they/them" pronoun pin for my work lanyard, I have worn it for about a week and no one has noticed. I was working closely with 4 other employees yesterday, and part way into the shift one of them goes,
"oh! I only just noticed your pin, I'm sorry I have been using the wrong pronouns for you."
I said what I tell everyone cause I dislike confrontation, and said its okay. But this gal, she made sure that for the rest of the day, that she used my correct pronouns! This is the first time I have had someone use they and them for me in a work setting, and OH, MY, the euphoria!! She even used it with patients when directing them to me. None of my other coworkers caught on, but having that one angel validating me all day, made my day, week and month! Unfortunately she said that it was her last day, so I will not get the chance to work with her again, but I appreciate her making her last day, my best day yet, at work.
I have no one else to share with, so I wanted to share with all you lovely people!
