I'm sorry to hear this.
LMAO.
Brave for posting this here
Truly, the only opinion that really matters in this hobby is your own. Hope you enjoy them!
Just got them in the mail today from Drop. Driving it with a Monolith THX AAA amp and a SMSL 200 Dac. I just upgraded from Monoprice M570s and the difference is really night and day. The soundstage is the best I have ever experienced, and it is extremely noticeable in classical music. The headphones absolutely shine through when it comes to the clarity of stringed instruments. I was also suprised how light and comfortable they were compared to my bulky M570s. The one complaint I have is that the brushed aluminum bits undreath the plastic bracing feels a bit fragile. Definetly need to be a bit more careful with these compared to my past headphones which have survived all kinds of drops and nicks.
Have you tried EQ with them?
They EQ fairly well, just as well as the 800s
Those are open meshes so yeah need to be careful when handling them so you dont dent them.
Curious, does it sound muffled to you? In comparison to the 800S it definitely is, but I wonder if you would notice it if you've never listened to the 800S before.
Op Coming from monoprice I doubt he'd notice anything but crispness competitively... Even if it's probably a little muddy vs the 800s or higher end stuff...
I just skimmed through it too fast to notice Monoprice, my bad.
I expected this post to be downvoted all the way to Australia. I'm proud of this sub.
The comments shitty tho.
Could be worse XD
Nice! Enjoy and don't listen to measurements robots reviewers... If you like it enjoy it!
God I love headphones but the community can be real toxic sometimes. Different people enjoy different things and a headphone is more than a graph. Chill tf out and don’t judge headphones you haven’t heard or the people excited to get them.
Yeah I'm also super disappointed in some of the comments here.
As someone who's purchased and enjoyed every drop xx reiteration of a classic headphone I'm very happy with the 8xx. The Soundstage is blowing my mind.
Glad to hear it! Mine got delivered home but I get to try them out this weekend!
what you said is true but saying that doesnt magically fill the 10db scooped mids…
Please leave your opinion compares to your prior experienced headphones.

why is he bad for asking about your opinion? am I missing something?
I read it as them asking for OP's opinion on how they sound, and what they're accustomed to. Seems reasonable to me. I didn't get any elitism or snark. Maybe it was misunderstood?
Ah yes ppl down voting things for the sake of it being down voted lol
The first time I read it I interpreted it as “please leave. Your experience compares to your prior experiences”, meaning your opinion shows that you have little experience.
He's looking to discredit op's thoughts based on his lack of "audiophile-approved" headphone priors
i think he just wants a point of reference. "my new *insert headphones* are amazing! much better than my apple earbuds" doesn't really say a lot.
Congrats to your new headphones!
ITT: People who pass definitive judgements on a headphone that they have never owned or listened to.
Stop regurgitating the opinions of reviewers. Their opinion only means as much as your own.
Waiting for mine down under. Let's hope it's a fitting end to the HD800 line-up.
Get a camera now...
So, has anyone done a side by side with the 800s? I wonder if/how the bass is different between the two. I love the 800s but it definitely lacks in bass as compared to many other high-end headphones…
Ps. Just my opinion…
I know this is an old thread but I was looking for amp advice on the HD8xx.
Having heard the HD800s and HD8xx I just wanted to give my opinion.
HD8xx has a much better behaved treble. Less aggressive and less overbearing like it is (in my opinion) on the HD800s. Upper mids are a bit more recessed on the HD8xx, however this is a small price to pay since on the HD800s the highs sound way less natural than the mids on the HD8xx. The HD8xx has more low end than the HD800s however by no means does it base reach low, at some point it just stops. I found the HD8xx much more enjoyable to listen to, it gives great separation in the instruments, spaciousness and good rhythm and pace, much better than I thought. It basically pulls me into the music, without any fatigue. After all the reviews I thought it would sound horrible, however I ended up keeping it and liked it much much better than the HD800s which to my ears were just treble cannons. It's important to get a good amp though and please run it balanced, I found a huge difference between the SE and balanced. Best results I got so far was with the monoprice liquid gold plus, however a better dac will get you better results, and the reason why I am still looking for a good amp/dac combo with the same amp sound sig. as the monoprice LAU+ but with a better dac. The topping DX7pro or the monoprice 788 gave less satisfactory results, they sounded thin and to hot for my taste. I know tubes are recommended for the HD800s however I don't want to go down the tube rolling rabbit hole.
I have not heard the 8xx. Personally, I like the treble on the 800s. I use the Burson Conductor 3X Reference solid state amp and a Monoprice Liquid Platinum ss/tube hybrid amp. I use the LP for a slightly juicer bass, but this is the 800s ... so it doesn't go too deep. I have not gone down the tube-rolling rabbit hole... yet....

Congrats! I can’t understand the hate on this and you can’t really beat them for that price. Did it come with a single needed or balanced cable?
It comes with a single ended and doesn't come with a balanced cable. I'm away from my house for studies so I just have to wait for my family to send my pair of 8xx over.
why everyone hating on this? genuinely curious
Youtube Influencers be out here influencing.
they seem good headphones on paper. I don't know influencers stuff. what's contested
There's a scoop in the mids that some are arguing is unacceptable, others say it takes a bright sometimes overwhelming headphone and makes it more laid back and warm. In excited to get my pair!
I am with the others. It definitely is more laid back and warm (and inviting) than the HD800s, but it has plenty of drive to not really call it laid back, I find it quite engaging.
headphones community wasn't this heated up about some headphones a couple of years ago ahah I'll be careful about what I post. enjoy yours!
They look pretty awesome! Enjoy your new headphone.
I love mine! The only thing that bothers me is for the price they should have come in a very nice box, not cardboard. Petty complaint I know, but my other expensive headphones come in super nice boxes which I can reuse / keep.
Same box as the 800s. Put mine next to each other and was like, oh look doubles.
The box is good imo, I plan on keeping mine in the box.
Congrats on the new headphone, hope you're enjoying it despite the bad reviews it got.
Looks like you were shaking with excitement when taking the picture
Ngl I saw the blurriness and immediately thought, "low iron, huh?"
I wonder how/why ppl get hi-end audiophile stuff, but won't get a smartphone with OIS.
Have to save money somewhere. I spent 3k on audio stuff... but had a basic moto g6 on a pay as you go plan
Oof, different priorities, huh. Tbf I myself am sitting with audio gear x4 the price of my current phone :D But I'm going to upgrade my phone first.
some ppl simply use a phone for what it is, a phone, this is comming from someone who got his iphone 13 pro max the same day i ordered this same headphones.
cause you can't repair shit with apple
