Any tips for a new Yorkie owner?

Just got a new 10 month old Yorkie. His previous family loved him but due to a change in health they had to rehome him.

I'm taking him on 2 walks a day, making sure to not overfeed him and giving him plenty of other playtime with small tennis balls and rope toys. What am I missing?

Nothing. Maybe brushing his teeth, small dogs can have teeth problems later in life if there teeth are not taken care of. Congratulations on getting a new yorkie, you are going to have so much fun and live with him.

We've loved him since the moment we met him. He's high energy bundle of fun. He needs to learn to stop licking faces, but other than that he's just about perfect!

Mine loves licking faces!! Just the bottom part where my mouth is, and nose. Sometimes she's goes up my nose. 😖

My biggest regret with my yorkie (now 9yo) was not getting her used to the toothbrush at a young age. She had to get 8 teeth removed and a cleaning this summer. But good luck getting a tooth brush anywhere near her, only thing I can do now is make sure she has something to chew on and I put a tarter control additive in her water.

Teeth brushing and snuggles.

Yep and yep. Start early taking care of their teeth. They are notorious for developing crappy teeth.

A tired dog is a happy dog, and Yorks are no exception. Enjoy your new lifelong friend!

If he ever gets tired, I'll let you know! 2 hours of walking and more playing in between isn't enough for this pup! But it's sure getting me the exercise I needed!

Haha yeah I know what you mean. I have a 2 year old and 6 month old yorks and they can go and go and go I swear.

They can be extremely difficult to house train so be patient and consistent or invest in a lot of Nature’s Miracle lol

Brush those teeth, and start early so they get used to it.
