I like #3, it's clear what each icon signifies (option 4 might causes issues because the paper plane icon doesn't scream "send message" as much as an envelope does to many users).

As for the last panel, I'd say that the icons are quite good together but the "i" icon seems slightly too tall.

Other than that, well done.

Thanks! I have one more question. If I didn't tell you what it meant, what would you think I'm trying to represent with the last icon in the last panel?

I'd think some kind of 'organize' or 'save' function but I'm not actually sure.

Thanks for the feedback! Which do you prefer out of these? Also, do you know of a good icon/design pattern for "articles" or "archive"? That's what I was going for, and I'm glad I didn't lead the question, because now I know I need something different. Thanks again!

Personally, I think I prefer D but that could just be me.

As for the archive icon question, I think an icon resembling a 3d box, perhaps with a + tag to symbolise it's adding something to a storage. I could have a totally atypical view though.
