Jesse Palmer named new host of The Bachelor
Any thoughts? I think he'll be a good host, former bachelor himself. I'm happy with the choice.

I’m bummed. I’d rather not see a white man/ex-NFLer cast. It’s well past time for ABC to diversify their casting and I see this as yet another sign that they don’t want to evolve in a real way

The primary qualification of the job is to be the face of the franchise and to represent the vision ABC has for the future of the franchise. That includes signaling how seriously they’re taking their past mistakes. So no, I don’t think he meets the qualifications. His selection signals more of the same. Anyone can say “this is the last rose.”

How could any one person be all things to everyone? If Jesse is a concrete signal that the show is only one thing, then so would Tayshia or Kaitlyn (for example) they’ve been addressing the casting with massive changes in ethnic makeup.
The only host that could truly be everyone is pulling an Ex On The Beach and replacing the host with a Tablet Of Terror aka an iPad mini handing out dates. :p

I’m not expecting him to be all things to everyone. I’d just prefer that the consistent/only host of the franchise moving forward not be a white man/bro/ex-NFLer. Which I think is a reasonable expectation for an American reality dating show franchise in 2021, especially when said franchise is trying to recover from a problematic past in terms of racism and lack of diverse casting that reflects the actual American population

I wonder if this was why he was cast for The Ultimate Surfer hosting gig that they ran straight after BIP for the first 8 episodes. He’s clearly been on Fleiss’ radar as a host to take over given The Proposal show a year or so ago.
Good for him, finally someone who can also jump a fence and rundown the street without doing Harrison’s old man jog shuffle.
I’ve never seen any of his sports commentary/gigs, so I don’t know how he is with the less scripted studio interview aspects.

I am here for it. Season 5 lead so he can relate to the leads and mentor, just like Tayshia and Kaitlyn are doing for the Ettes. Has hosted several shows and is comfortable on camera. For the younger viewers, Jesse Palmer famously said the wrong woman's name during a rose ceremony and tptb had to give him an extra rose. He meant to eliminate her but offered to let her stay one more week due to his blunder.
