Help. 2k1+. Rsham/War vs Hunter/Druid. (Sham POV)

Question

Hi there,

Struggling a lot vs Hunter/Druid as Warrior/Rsham at the moment. We loose probably 90% of the time.

Feels extremely one sided. We tried to focus the hunt/the pet/the druid, switch to the target without hots....

Going all in at the beginning doesn't work because there is not enough dampening to put pressure on a target (the druid heals are just insane).

Trying to play the long game doesn't work either due to how oppressive the hunter's dps is.

Warrior is Kyrian (which probably doesn't help)

I am at a point where I hesitate to just surrender once my elem is gone if we didn't secure a kill to spare my mental energy and not tilt.

Any tips are welcome. If we can increase our win rate by 10 or 20 % it would be already great!

Thanks for your input!

Get the hunter to FD, after his FD you spear him so he cannot get out.

If he has CC to limit your damage in this go bladestorm or have trinket.

It's not about hitting a target, its about maximising your uptime on anything.

Yes you are right.

What would force you to FD?

Yes, warrior really has trouble to connect.

Thanks for the insight!

Damage.

The warrior connecting with the hunter for 3-4 seconds will cause a FD. The Hunter will likely take survival tactics to reduce damage for 1.5 seconds warriors damage is so high.

You have Earthbind totem, Stormbolt, Hamstring, Charges, Leap, Capacitor, Bladestorm, Frost Shock.

warrior has trouble to connect

Even though he's kyrian, he should be playing execute charge, it is available extremely often and gives insane mobility

what would force FD

Pressure forces fd, the hunter will need to use it to break slows and trigger survival tactics if your warrior is using mobility properly

Someone also mentioned maledict for this

Hunters will almost always feign a maledict so if you do it at the right time you can set up your warrior for a full spear, which gives much more pressure than a maledict would

My experience is that it's a very rotten match up, especially if the druid is any good. I normally have two ways of playing it. Bolt the druid into a hex, then bait the hunters FD with warriors maledict trinket, then as soon as he uses spear him and pop on him. With any luck you'll get turtle or druid's trinket, then just try the same again in a minute with shamans maledict when spear is back up.

You can also try baiting druids dispel by hexing the hunter, then just double maledict the druid and try and blow him up in a spear as bm peels are pretty bad.

I tend to have more luck with the first option. But it is a bad match up and you should expect to lose most of them.

Thanks for the strat! Will definitely try that out!

Druid can just meld or range mally with sprint, not gonna work on good druid

terrastormflayer•

Get your warrior mishappen, make him take banner, take grounding and shear every druid cc, spam purge and maybe you can win. Mishappen to me as a resto shaman feels mandatory for this comp

terrastormflayer•

Also take earth ele leggo, once you get the hunter both u and the warrior spam damage and purge, it will pull them way behind on cds and mana

I don't have any answers for you but I'm curious what other people have to say so leaving a comment to find later and an upvote to boost.

If kyrian, swap to druid on stormbolt cd, hit hunter / pets / los inbetween

2
Coach_XavOP•

Might be good! Also good to use spear on the druid instead of the hunter indeed as he can't get out of it!

Every swap you all in basically. He should die 2nd earth ele with spear/avatar/warbreaker/rsham shackle/sharpen and high damp

1
Coach_XavOP•

The big problem is that the warrior dies way before the second ele comes

I’m 2.4+ in both brackets on warrior and 2.4 in 2s as rsham.

If you’re dying that fast into druid / hunter, which is the dampener version, something is wrong with the warriors gameplay. Is he kiting on trap? Is he swapping between B and D stance to force hunter(pets) to kite? Is he parrying randomly? Is he not swapping conduits for more personal sustain? Etc.

Ret paladin here at 2200mmr. My first strategy is usually to force turtle, then line the hunters pet and have healer maledict it for the kill. Then just run at hunter all game. Another stragety is to run double maledict trinket and kill pet first. Then hunter turtles and you maledict again. It's also very situational, but my win % is pretty high against hunter / R druid. I play with either a priest, shaman, or druid.

It is a super shit matchup for u and the only comp i usually struggle with on my warr, but yeah i usually just run at hunter all game, lining him only if my healer is cced and i cant connect, and save spear for after fd, if he saves his fd cus he is afraid of spear then he should die easier. Hunters have to use fd to kite a warrior+rsham if the warrior uses his mobility correctly. U could make a big swap on druid if he has no cds and ur warrior has everything + male, then he can die 100-0 in a spear but i rarely do that

Honestly not remotely familiar with that matchup so I can't offer much help. Warriors are fairly mobile but those are 2 very difficult to catch classes.

How long are you games usually lasting against them? 5? 7? 10 minutes? If the druid is ever remotely close to oom'ing, I'd say your best bet is to swap between whichever target has little/no hots constantly and just hope to oom them. I'm sure a warrior god like Smexxin/Magnus could give great insight if they came here, but from my PoV as a hunter, it's very difficult for warriors to actually touch me long enough to kill me (even as MM with no craven). Druids are also very hard to stick to, and stormbolt isn't quite a long enough stun to just blow them up quickly.

Only thing I can imagine is playing the mana game, swap between the pet, hunter, and druid, whatever is un-hotted and in reach at all times, maximize PVE rotation levels of damage and pray you oom him, or catch him in a random CC chain by surprise (fear -> hex, stormbolt hunter perhaps).

Seems like a pretty aids matchup tbh, rdruids make life miserable for most classes and BM hunter can kite warriors pretty easily. Good luck comrade, sorry I can't be of more help.

Resto druid hunter in 2s is now so broken just leave the game immediately. OR you can all in the druid, bait some cds, then double shackle him if he dispells anything.

Matchup is shit if warr is kyrian. Pure depression

1
Covah56•

Play reflect legendary to reflect traps, then you have to ground/sheer cyclones. If druids bash you to clone off warr gotta stop it or reflect. Never let go of the hunter, if he lands a trap you gotta trade cds for it before you get low. Help your warrior with slows and roots in the hunter when he uses his movement cds. You have to be aggressive or you will play catch-up all game and eventually die

1
IplayclassicWoW•

You're supposed to win by default. Both of you counter each role respectively. I wouldn't even run dwayne leggo in this matchup. Gonna be a long game. Root the pets, ground trap, use spear after the hunter used feign death. Purge when you have a go. Fear into hex on druid into cap totem. You have plenty of tools to deal with them. It will highly depend on the map though some maps are just too good for rdruid.

1
Coach_XavOP•

Interesting, you are the only one saying that we are supposed to win that match up. Thanks for the set up ideas, will try them out!

1
IplayclassicWoW•

Its not going to be an easy road like I said. But you can prevent druids from getting drinks with totems a lot. Druids will out damp you given the chance. Probably a 60/40 advantage for you. As strong as rdruid is in 2s, they die in a spear too when ns is down.

1
dmsuxvat•

Short answer: you dont if hunter is good

There are some strats though. Bolt spear pop everything on druid in human form then pray for crit. Shaman plays aggressive with purge. But the easiest one is killing pet, even commit shackle on pet if needed.

Or just play venth

Firewatch_ED•

Warrior should only use bladestorm and avatar to get out of roots. You should root the hunter when you can. A spear after FD is wise but the good hunters won’t FD when spear is up. I’ve had success at 2100 cr by just sitting on the hunter the whole time.

Make sure the warrior doesn’t start with a charge or heroic leap. It’s easy to get behind that way. I don’t bother going Druid because the good ones will not let me catch them. I would wait to use earth ele until later in the fight.

What rating are you at?

Edit: Oh, and when the warrior spears and the hunter FDs, he should hit the pet then and maybe get a kill. The pet with 120 focus (usually a raptor) is the one you have to kill.

1
archtme•

One good tip is to try to connect to the hunter at first without using charge or leap. A shaman can certainly help you here with totems, frostshock and hex. When you connect you hamstring and start mauling him. When he jumps you charge and piercing howl. This way you're hard to shake off and the pressure can force a fd. After the fd you spear him.

If the hunter traps your partner you need to los and go def stance + ignore pain asap and waste time for the hunter.

You can also try to drag the pet out of los and kill it with spear and warbreaker. Make sure you keep sweeping strikes up when connecting to the hunter (if they are going you), many healers let the pet die to cleave or at least go dangerously low.

This is a hard matchup, rdruid hunter is one of the best comps.

Oh, kyrian warriors can actually kill rdruids with some good stuns and spear, but leaving the hunter unattended can be quite dangerous, caution is adviced.

just_a_little_rat•

I just train the hunter and swap to the pet either on hots/bark or to bait hots/globals.

Hunters feign to mitigate damage if your uptime is good, which means you can spear or maledict out. Or use spear to bait feign for maledict from rsham, etc. Worst case scenario you spear the hunter and pet, he feigns, and you chunk or kill the pet.

Can also look for a hard swap onto druid if he's out of form, position, no hots/bark, etc.

Thanks! Nice and clean :)

1
Coach_XavOP•

Is it always like that? I got the feeling that the hunter FD way too soon your shackles ( and that's what started the whole sequence). Do you think it would have been the same if the druid dispelled the first shackle instead?

1
swoops435Text•

From my experience, assume they're a monkey with no brain until they prove otherwise because most BM hunters are in fact monkeys with no brains. Its a good ladder strategy but If youre fighting the same team over and over it doesn't work and you have to get more creative to bait FD.

As a warrior you can spear/WB the hunter, when the hunter FDs to get out, just swap to pet, you shackle the pet or drop some lava bursts into it with sharpen from the warrior to kill the pet. At that point he has to turtle to res, play until you can set it again on the pet.

1
itswhateverdude76•

I'll give hunter pov, kill the fucking pet, I lose when the war just aoes the pet down, pop CDs,mally on pet, most healers will forget about pet, kill pet and the hunter should never get pet out without turtle
