New water meta?

Starting to get back into AOE2 and with the additional feudal age water options I'm a little unclear on water meta. Got stomped in a recent game where I went galleys and opponent went fire galleys - was my micro off or are fire galleys just the new meta?

Any resources or good videos you guys would recommend to up my game here?

ps. Fire galleys + demolition galleys micro battles looks a lot like zergling+baneling micro battles in SC2 as far as I can tell.
