What are our serious chances this season.

Discussion

Hey one of the UK based cowboys fans here, managed to catch up with hard knocks last night, then watched the highlight reels (could watch us do the iggles and panthers over and over) and then had a look at the rest of the schedule, Sadly we don't get much coverage over here, so I only get to see the bits of skip & shannon or stephen A that reach youtube, what is the nfl talk about how we're looking?

Am I right in thinking we're looking like a 14-3 team right now? Only teams I see us maybe losing to down the stretch are maybe the cardinals and the chiefs, especially with some top tier talent to return from injury in the coming weeks.

Of winning the division? 95% If they stay healthy they could make it deep into the playoffs. This is the best defense I’ve seen in years.

*if they stay healthy.

Defense wins championships could never be a truer statement than with the Cowboys this year. We have always played pretty good offense with Dak in back but games often got away or required Dak to do everything possible to win.

Fellow Uk Cowboys fan here. ~£130 gets you NFL gamepass which gets you every single Cowboys’ game live or you can watch the whole game the day after with no adverts in 2hrs or even the whole game with all stoppages removed in an hour.

On top of that are games from previous years and all the other NFL content. I have missed a game in years.

NICE! Had no idea we could get that here I know what I'm doing today!

I feel like 11-6 or 12-5 is a more realistic expectation. There will be a few slip ups I’m sure, but the ceiling is much higher than it has been in recent seasons. There’s not a team on our schedule that I don’t think we can compete with and beat on the right night. Just need to stay healthy, and hopefully round out the defensive and offensive line depth with some free agency acquisitions

Take it week by week and don’t raise expectations until we clinch the division. We say every season the NFCE sucks and we’re a top team, only for things to not go our way

Arizona, Kansas City, Denver and Las Vegas are the biggest worries right now.

Then you have to include a division game here or there because that's just what happens in the NFL unless you're the Brady-led Patriots.

I'm in the 11-6 or 12-5 range for now.

AZ and KC for sure. Watched both Denver and LV games these past two weeks and they struggle with rush defense. I think we can run all over them. AZ will be a shootout, KC is a toss up. I don’t see any team on our schedule that we can’t beat. Coaching could cost us if McCarthy is managing the clock

LV just got blasted by a chargers team we've already beat. I know transitive property doesn't apply. But still, this is like saying Carolina will give Dallas trouble because of their defense.

Vegas has one decent win against the ravens.

Shoot even they weren't immune. Fun stat the Dolphins seemed to always find a way to avoid the sweep. They beat Brady a lot when he went to Miami. He only swept them 6 times in 18 years. For comparison he swept the Bill's 15 times.

NFC East is really bad. Cowboys should win it easy.

If they stay healthy they may even win a playoff game.

Before the season…. I would’ve been happy with a playoff appearance

At this point…. Anything less than AT LEAST 1 playoff win will be a bust

In theory we could go 14-3, but it’s the NFL. Teams drop games they should win often. Look at TEN and NYJ this last week. Bills and Steelers in Week 1 is another. I got us going 12-5 or 13-4.

This is less true for well-coached teams. After watching 3rd down and red zone O improve this year, and even more so: our defense (Not to mention cutting Jaylon) I'm convinced that we are now a well-coached team.

htking2019Trevon Diggs•

There’s no doubt we’re much-improved. But that doesn’t mean the “any given Sunday” rule doesn’t apply to us. The Chiefs honestly should have beaten the Ravens. Lamar got hot in the second half and brought it within range, but 9/10 times the Chiefs drive down the field and kick the FG. The CEH fumble had nothing to do with coaching. It was just a honest mistake that cost his team the game. Color me skeptical that we’ll be able to avoid all of those potential situations this season.

I hear you. I think better coaching fixes lots of the issues you describe. I’d attribute surprises on Sunday to mistakes, rather than luck.

Mahomes is a gunslinger, and coaching can affect his risk aversion, a decision making going forward.

A fumble is not an “honest mistake” it’s a lack of ball control. That’s ball carrier technique, which can definitely be coached.

This team has flipped the switch, from “honest mistake” to “we can fix that”. This is a culture change for us. So far, this year, this coaching staff is showing a winning culture: a drive to improve, and fix mistakes.

Betting markets have Dallas at 65% chance of winning the division and about 9% chance of still earning the 1 seed.

Obviously still very early for these odds but thats the 4th highest percentage to win a division in the league.

we would have to damn near fall apart to lose the NFC East or WFT Defense turn it on bc Taylor carrying them

this our best team in years I don’t know what are chances are but they pretty good

1

The top of the NFC is gonna be tough. 3-4 other teams that will be about just as good tbh.

12-5 is realistically our basement barring injury, that’s losing every game that should be a competition

1
TrauMedic•

I’ve got us winning the division at 12-5 and possibly a playoff game. Really would be great to get deeper into the playoffs but I need more games to feel better about it. As of now we look really good but the majority of people aren’t putting us in the big game.

1
J0llyR0dgerDallas Cowboys•

At this point, probably 12-13 wins in n the regular season. Which, as Parcells says, “gets you in the tournament.” From there, you’ve also got to be healthy, hot, and a bit lucky.

humansrpepul2•

We could do as well as winning a Superbowl or as poorly as a 3-14 record.

Literally the same as every other year. Either miss the playoffs or a strong first round exit.
