Triple option - can’t throw to receiver with the same pass icon as the hurdle button

Hoping someone can explain what I’m doing wrong whenever I run this play … usually the RB will be the same icon as the hurdle button and instead of passing the ball to him my QB just jumps around like an idiot and ruins the entire play. Is this a bug or what am I doing wrong here?
