Regency Novels featuring Ireland

I would be really interested in reading any books set in the Regency(ish) era that feature Irish characters or discussion of the Irish home rule movement. I haven’t come across any except for the Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman series by Pamela Aidan (which has a distinctly anti-Irish bent, not entirely surprising given that Darcy has strong Tory vibes…).

I’ve read all of Jane Austen’s books and a fair number of spin-offs and adaptations and cheesy Regency romances, and that’s the general vibe I’m especially looking for—balls and rich snobs and drawing room gossip, but also some characters are secretly plotting revolution or writing incendiary pamphlets and maybe the pistols come out at the book’s climax. That sort of thing.

This is probably a dumb comment since it doesn’t involve Ireland and it’s pretty popular on Netflix, but the Poldark series (books, I mean) are fantastic. In my eyes they’re the best regency/aristocratic era books ever written.

And the Poldark series on Netflix I would say is also the best period-drama I’ve ever seen too.

There's a terrific book I read years ago about a failed revolt/French invasion that happened at that time. Maybe by T. Correghesan Boyle. Wish I could be more help.

The Year of the French by Thomas Flanagan. It came to me when I was drifting off to sleep.
